What is bullying?

Bullying is to seek harm or intimidate them to be vulnerable.

Ask yourself: Have you seen this happen? What can I do to stop it?

In order to stop bullying here are some helpful tips:

● Get an adult

● See something, say something

● STOP!

● Make sure the victim or the one being bullied is okay.

● Create distance from the bully and victim

What is cyberbullying?

The use of electronic communication to bullying a person, typically by sending a message of an

intimidating or threatening nature?

Ask yourself: Have I sent a mean message or made fun of someone online? Have I intentionally

put someone down or threatened them with a photo?

How to stop cyberbullying:

● Notify an adult

● Take screenshots of the messages as proof

● Alert your school

● Notify the police if the school or adult is not taking action

● Form a committee to help stop cyberbullying

School Safety:

Fire Drill, Intruder Drills, Tornado Drill and more.

Introducing these topics to you.

Fire drill:

This is what you should expect when there is a Fire Drill. What do you think evacuation

means? It means to get out in an orderly fashion. Then we would do a fire drill. Line up at the

door. Remain quiet. Follow the students out the door out to the grass or far away from the

building. We go through many different routes, so that we know of multiple ways we could exit.

Then make your own map using your own evacuation route.

Intruder Drill:

Call it Code Red or lockdown because when using the term intruder drill. It can make

kids or students think of a person with a gun. Then Lockdown can be used for many other things

where they need to hide and be in a quiet kind of situation. This can be used for other drills as

well like a tornado drill depending on the classroom ( windows, etc).

Tornado Drill:

Go to a room, hallway, bathroom, or etc and seek shelter. I can explain that this is a way

different situation that deals with staying in the building then leaving the building for safety

reasons. I can show them videos and examples of how a tornado acts by creating games and

other tools to help them learn about why tornadoes are so dangerous. The most important thing
to do during them is to cover your head and neck with your hands or go under a desk or

something that is away from windows and have a good support underneath you.

Natural Disasters:

Depending on the situation of the natural disaster there are different requirements for

each disaster. Make a presentation on your understanding of each natural disaster. The American

Red Cross has some good examples on what you can do when there is a natural disaster that may

happen or has happened in your area. They provide good examples on what to do. For

coronavirus you must remain 6ft apart and wear a mask. Don’t forget to wash your hands and

disinfect the area that the person has touched. That way it remains clean of the virus.

Unsafe situations:

What to do:

Avoid angry scenes with friends or people or crowds. Keep with your group. Look big and show

confidence. Treat people nicely, so they don’t get aggravated. What might you do if these

situations occur when you are in school or out in the city or town. This is where students can

create ideas and research on what they can do to get out of these situations.

Technology Safety:

What you can do:

● Keep your personal life private. This includes: Birthday, where you are going, etc.

● Track your caller ID on who is calling and use your phone to contact help if you are in

danger.

● Put a GPS tracker on your phone or electronics.

● There is much you can do to stay safe. What ideas can you come up with?
