This lesson will provide students with the opportunity to explore their community in
an in-depth manner through personal connection, buddy work and the use of
ozobots.

- 1 copy of Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña -glue/ scissors
-Pictures of local community places (5 or 6 of places visited by your - one ozobots per
students) group
-Chart paper/ one per group
-black markers

Differentiated Instruction (DI): (accommodations)

This lesson incorporates the use of written language and pictorial representation
which will support all learners in their various stages of literacy. The Teachers will
also help to facilitate conversation around favourite places in the community, to allow
for learners to participate at a level that supports all needs. Learners will also be
working with their big buddy

Assessment and Evaluation: (formative and summative possibilities related to


curricular connections)

Can a learner draw and orally describe 3 of their favourite places in the community?

Organizational/Management Strategies: (anything special to consider?)


- Local community pictures are ready to be displayed
- Ozobots are charged and ready to use
- Learners are already paired with their buddy

Next place pictures of the community on

Explain to the class they will be drawing a Review expectations for using ozobot 5 min
picture of their community that has three markers and ozobots
of their favourite places on it. Once they
have shown an adult, they will be given an
ozobot marker to connect all three Learners along with their big buddy move 15min
favourite connections together (a skill to their workspace to begin
previously learned)

Once the picture has been created with


the ozobot lines drawn each group will be Check in with an adult to receive ozobot 15min
given an ozobot,

Teacher will visit each group once they Explain their connections to their 3 min
have their ozobot and ask them to favourite spots in the community
describe the places their ozobot is visiting.
