ACTIVITIES AND ASSESSMENT

1. In what specific ways can you contribute to the attainment of the DepEd mandate in the
following areas?

Implementation of policies, plans, programs, and projects in:

Formal Basic Education: The process to have a quality education will start with the strategies being
applied within the classroom set up and how it is being implemented amidst of the difficulties and
hindrance that may encounter. As a public-school teacher, I am doing my best to do all these things to
contribute the educational welfare of the students.
Alternative Learning System: I am not handling this type of education but the best way I can help with
ALS is to know students who are old enough and recommend to them the possible type of education that
fits to them. On that way, they can maximize their time.
2. What can you do as a beginning teacher to:
Promote quality education?
To promote the best and quality education of a country is not that easy but having passion within
is the only motivation we have. As a beginning teacher, I always observe and identify the situation and
hindrance before I use strategies so that I can contextualize the strategies. It may be hassle at first but the
moment you achieve these, it will be a great achievement for you and for the school as well.
Make education accessible to all?
This implies the application for out of the school organization and extended education. I know that
this is not possible for me because of the hectic schedule that we have but during summer and Christmas
vacation we are trying to do these. We go to hilly areas to have an outreach program and at the same time
conduct tutorials after. We were doing it for 2 years already and hoping that it will never end.
3. Answer the following questions based on the readings above:
As a teacher, how do you encourage your students:
To discover their full potential that may contribute for the betterment of the society.
This has something to do with the Multiple Intelligence which is about the kind of intelligence
that a student has. Whatever suit to their needs and capabilities, the activities given should be related with
this for them to discover their full potential.
To apply the competencies prescribed in the curriculum?
The first thing that I need to do is to make sure that they mastered all the basic competencies
because so far as I have observed, there are other students who are non-readers though they are in the
middle school already, so we don’t have any choice but to go back to the most basic one. By the time it is
achieved, there is the monitoring of application I have made within the school through to their other
teachers and classmates and when they are at home, the parents that I asked with is the one who’ll guide
them.
To reflect and evaluate their home- and culture-based values?
I will let my learners evaluate the home and cultural values of other countries through of audio-
visual materials: let them see the differences that each country has. Consequently, they are to reflect on
the foundation of home and cultural values of the Philippines and its relation to their own.
3.1 Which among your specific roles/functions as a teacher can signify your responsibility among your
students and people in the community?
The specific function that signifies my responsibility among my students and people in the
community is applying the competencies prescribed in the curriculum. It is because everything starts with
the discipline at school. When a student masters the competencies that we, teachers taught, that is the time
the learning is successful and can apply this in real life to contribute the betterment of the society.
3.2 What plans do you have as a teacher to achieve the learner-centered philosophy?
To achieve a learner-centered philosophy, I must make my students the heart of my teaching and
learning process. I will make sure that my classroom discussion is suitable to all my learners by being
aware of their needs, differences, goals, wants, and aspirations in life.
3.3 How can you foster partnership and extend linkages to your stakeholders?
I can foster partnership and extend linkages to my stakeholders by including them in the
preparation of my classroom goals and objectives. I will also keep them involved in the activities where
they can do so much contribution to the holistic development of the students.
4. Students learn in a child-friendly, gender sensitive, safe, and motivating environment.
4.1 What can you contribute to ensure a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating
environment?
To ensure a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment, I have to create a
learning environment which is conducive and inclusive. I have to make sure that it is accommodating to
the needs of the different kinds of learners that I will be teaching.
4.2 How do you address the uniqueness of each learner?
To address the uniqueness of each learner, I have to bring into account Howard Gardner’s
Multiple Intelligences Theory which posits that all students are different from one another. Furthermore, I
can exhibit this by adhering to differentiated instruction where students are given tasks that are applicable
to the skills and capabilities they possess.
4.3 How do you ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen?
To ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen, I will make
my students feel that they are in the learning environment where they can always be motivated to study
and learn. I will also extend my service even outside the classroom to ensure effective learning.
4.4 What are some ways to develop lifelong learners?
For lifelong learners to be developed, teachers have to make sure that the various instructional
deliveries that will be provided to them are well-planned. They have to be given differentiated tasks
wherein they can use the competencies needed for real-life application. We do not just teach our students
what to learn but by how to learn. With this, the students are beyond developed to be lifelong learners.
5. My Philosophy in Teaching
State briefly your philosophy in teaching which spells your vision in entering the teaching
profession towards effective, learner-centered and meaningful teaching experience. It must be something
you believe that will drive you to success and to being a meaningful agent of change to students and your
community.
Learning is a continuous process which means to say that it is never ends. The moment you learn
something, that is the time you realize that there are some things that you do not know.
6. Vision Sharing (write your vision and share your thoughts about it to your co-teacher)

I see my learners 10 years from now as a working professional. Hoping that it will become a
reality even though I know for a fact they prefer to be young mom because they don’t have any choice. I
am not losing hope and I will never give with my visions for them.
7. What strategies do you intend to apply a learner-centered philosophy to ensure the attainment of
your vision?
I intend to apply a learner-centered philosophy to ensure the attainment of my vision through
equipping them with the 21st century skills that K-12 curriculum is aiming. I also have to let them realize
first what they want in life before I can help them in pursuing what they want.
