DROWNED

DROWNED
March 2020 marked as the beginning of the so called “New Normal”. This pandemic has
brought many changes to all human being and living creatures.
I still remember how this pandemic brought us far from one another. We are all afraid to
socialize with other people, talking to them, hugging them, and kissing them is prohibited. The
actions we used to do normally now becomes a big NO NO. We are all scared to be contaminated
with the virus brought by the pandemic, so we choose to isolate ourselves.
Our own town that used to be lively, you can see people gathering anywhere, noise can be
heard at any corner but suddenly turns into a ghost town because of great silence. You can see no
one on the streets early in the evening, then no noise can be heard, and few people walking or
roaming around on broad daylight. Suddenly in a snap of a finger the lively town becomes a ghost
town-like.
Face mask is a must to wear add it up with face shield. It becomes necessity, who would not
use it? We are all afraid of the virus we choose to secure ourselves from the threat of this pandemic.
We all become familiar to the new face of one another, can’t even bare to recognize our
friends because of face mask and face shields. We are not used in using these but now we’ve
became familiar to it. Without these it seems that we aren’t complete, we are not safe.
I can remember how this pandemic separate us from one another, we feel loneliness, pity,
and hopelessness from the situation we are into. How much more to those family who lost their
loved ones, those who keep on battling with the pain and loneliness? Hopelessness make us numb.
We’re just like the stone who feel hard into deep well, feeling cold, lonely and hopeless.
Struggling too much because of this pandemic. Yet we continue to fight the battle, thinking there
will someone to save us. With this, we should be thankful to the frontliners who extend their helping
hands to those who have been infected by the virus, they never left the patients alone. The pandemic
may isolate us from one another but with the help of virtual communication we still bind the ties.
Spreading love, positivity and helping one another virtually, silently and from afar. Reminding us
that despite of this pandemic brought about by COVID-19 we should still remain positive not in
virus but in our heart and mind. That there are individuals who will save us from drowning pulling
us up to continue to fight.
Drowned by Marigrace D. Carretero is such a masterpiece, by the simple words she put into
made its way to our hearts and mind meaningfully. It gives us hope of conquering the challenges as
we are going through, no matter how deep drowned we are, someone will save us and saves the day.
Be happy and hopeful.
