the sending end of a lossless T.L which is short-circuited at the far end. The
characteristic impedance for this uniform T.L is Zo=50Ω. Sketch the voltage and
current as a function of time for both ends. (Use Zig-Zag diagram).
b) For the lossless T.L shown below, the line is driven with a generator that has
Eg=30 Vrms and Zg=25Ω, if Zr=40-j60 and λ=2.5m, find:
1. The standing wave ratio.
2. The sending end impedance, voltage, current, and power.
3. The reflection coefficient for both ends.
4. The distances X and Y.

Q3: a) Explain briefly the indirect method to generate a WBFM with diagram and equations.
b) An FM modulator is followed by an ideal band-bass filter having a center frequency of
1 MHz and a bandwidth of 70 KHz. The unmodulated carrier is given by
10 cos (2π106t), and the message signal is 10 cos (2π103t). The transmitter frequency
deviation constant kf is 300 Hz/volt.
1. Determine the peak frequency deviation.
2. Determine the modulation index.
3. Determine the power of each sideband at the filter input and output.
4. Draw the spectrum of the signal at the filter input and output.
