Module 3 covers the use of a word processing application on a PC. It looks at the basic operations
associated with creating formatting and finishing a document ready for distribution. It also addresses
some of the more advanced features such as creating basic tables, using images within a document and
using mail merge tools. 1 Mark
3. Delete the hyphen in the heading and move Word Processing to a new line. 1 Mark
4. Use the appropriate command to select the whole document and change the font to Arial, 14pt. 1 Mark
5. Select the main heading and change the font to 16pt bold, select the sub heading and change to italics. 1

6. Select the paragraph of text and set the left indent to 0.5 inches from the left margin. 1 Mark
7. Select the entire document and change the line spacing to 1.5 lines. 1 Mark
8. Create a header to automatically add today’s date in the centre and a footer to add page numbers to the
centre of all pages in the document. 1 Mark
10. Add a clip art image, resize and reposition the image so that it appears towards the bottom right corner
of the page. 1 Mark
11. Save your document as ECDL Module Three and close Microsoft Word. 1 Mark
12. Ensure you understand the concepts of mail merge and that you can identify the form letter, the data
document and the merge document. Also make sure you are familiar with the mail merge helper. 4
