Classroom Management Plan Reflection
Classroom Management Plan Reflection
Creating a tangible classroom management plan can be crucial in students learning. The
classroom management plan can be essential for students to establish how to act or respond,
routines and procedures, and to develop emotionally, socially, and academically. The
environment of a classroom should allow for students to feel safe, supported, cared for, and
inspired. The environment should also create the feeling of being risk-free, having open
I learned through my student teaching to put my beliefs into action. When I showed my
students respect, cared for them, stated what was expected of them and what I believe they could
achieve, I could see a difference in their performance. As the students became more comfortable
with me throughout each day of teaching, this was displayed in their behavior and classwork. At
the beginning of the day, my cooperating teacher had a chart displayed on the smart board. This
list outlined what the students were doing for the day, what day it is (day 1, day 2…) and a
positive affirmation for each day. This could be “Treat others the way you want to be treated” or
“I can do hard things.” When the students see what their day will consist of, allows them to
become prepared to learn. This is something I plan to implement into my future classroom.
With the students coming back into the classroom from being on virtual, they had
forgotten a few classroom procedures. The cooperating teacher discussed what she expected with
classroom procedures and behaviors however, throughout the week she became lenient. I noticed
that the students realized that the classroom environment had become more laid back. Students
would get up in the middle of a lesson to sharpen a pencil, use the restroom, or come up and ask
questions while I am teaching. This is something I would not deem acceptable in my future
classroom. When students are walking around the classroom, this becomes exceptionally
distracting to many students and myself while teaching. I would be sure to establish class rules
and procedures for each of those instances. A few times, I would take it upon myself to remind
the students to stay seated, raise your hand, and wait to be called upon. However, I did realize
that this may have been an adjustment for students coming back from learning virtually. Overall,
my placement classroom ran smoothly with only a few things I would choose to do differently
I will begin teaching procedures and rules through explicit explanation and student
demonstration. Procedures for the classroom will be selected by assessing what will be the most
effective. Procedures will coincide with the chosen class rules, disciplinary plan, and what will
the school year in order to maintain consistency and order within the classroom. These
procedures will be re-discussed after holidays, school breaks, and whenever students seem to not
be following said procedures. A productive classroom reflects in the teacher’s procedures and
classroom rules. These are subject to change throughout the year to better fit the student’s
