Candidates Are Required To Give Their Answers in Their Own Words As Far As Practicable. The Figures in The Margin Indicate Full Marks

This document is the exam for a Control Systems course taken during the fall semester of 2009 at Pokhara University. It contains 7 questions testing students' understanding of control system concepts like transfer functions, root loci, stability analysis, and compensation techniques. Students are asked to obtain transfer functions, analyze feedback systems, sketch root loci and bode plots, determine stability specifications, and design a lead compensator. They are also asked short questions about open vs closed loop systems, PID controllers, and frequency response specifications.

Candidates are required to give their answers in their own words as far
as practicable.
The figures in the margin indicate full marks.
Attempt all the questions.

1. a. Obtain the transfer function of the systems shown in following 8

figures (a) and (b).

b. Obtain the transfer function for the block diagram shown below 7
using block diagram reduction technique.
2. a. The open loop transfer function of a unity feedback system is 7
