Introduction
1. Introduction
1.1 About the Handbook

This document describes in detail how to configure site-specific
installations of the Autroprime Interactive Fire Detection System
by means of the operating buttons on the panel.
1.2 The Reader

This handbook is intended for technicians and service personnel
who are responsible for the site-configuration of the Autroprime
system. We assume that the reader is familiar with the manoeuvre
and utility buttons which are described in detail in the Operator’s
Handbook.

Introduction
1.4 Ready-to-use in a Pre-configured State

Autroprime is provided to the user in a pre-configured state, in this
state the panel is set to recognize detectors and other loop units
connected to the detection loops and the availability of routing
equipment, etc. As such, the system is fully functional and ready-to-
use simply by turning ON the power, but not configured to respond
in any non-default way. A functional verification of the panel is run to
assure the panel itself is fully functional.
By default the system has one Detection Zone and one Alarm Zone.
A point in alarm will activate all Fire Alarm Devices and Fire Alarm
Routing Equipment.
Site-specific configuration can be performed by means of the panel

buttons. Refer to chapter 2.1, Site-specific Configuration.
1.5 Saving a Configuration and Restarting the System

Note that you always have to save a configuration and restart the
system;
 after an initial startup (part of the start-up procedure)
 each time a configuration has been changed.
This menu selections are found in the Service Menu/System

Settings (see chapter 2).
1.6 Configuration Examples

Chapter 9 in this handbook deals with two configuration examples,
one basic configuration example and an example with several alarm
zones and control functions. These examples shows how to perform
typical configurations of a medium-sized installation (to simplify the
understanding of the configuration principle, the basic configuration
example deals with one loop and 8 points only).

2.1 Site-specific Configuration

Site-specific configuration can be performed by means of the panel
buttons (configuration level 2), typically including:
 naming and assigning detectors/manual call points to Detection

Zones
 naming and defining the number and type of Detection Zones
(Immediate Action, Dependency Action, Delayed Action, Delayed
Dependency Action, SOLAS)
 assigning Fire Alarm Devices to Alarm Zones
 specifying the Detections Zones that can activate selected Alarm
Zones
 configuring “conditions” for outputs, for example, coincidence
action; meaning that at least two detectors in the same detection
zone must be in alarm state before actions are initiated
 assigning Detection Zones to disable devices (BW-200)
All these options and many more are available in the Service menu.
2.2 Access Level 3 – Service Menu

From the operator panel you can perform service commands. To
use the Service Commands, access level 3 is required.

3 Password restricted Accessible by persons trained and authorized to do
reconfiguration of site specific data and maintenance
according to the manufacturer’s published instruction.

2.4 Entering the Service Menu
 First, to enter the Menu Mode from operation mode or the panel’s
idle state, press and hold down the Enter button for a few
seconds.
The following will appear in the display:
 Use the arrow down button to scroll down and select Enter
Service Mode.
 Press Enter twice, then use the alphanumeric keypad and type
the password that has been selected during commissioning (4
characters).
 To accept the password, press Enter once more.
The menu selections Service and Exit Service now appear in the
display.

3. System Settings
3.1 Menu Selections - Overview

All system settings are global settings, meaning that the settings
affect the entire system. From the Service Menu, perform the
following:
 Press Enter to select System Settings.

The following chapters describe the menus in detail (following the

sequence of the System Settings Menu).
3.2 Save Configuration

Each time a configuration has been changed, this command should
be run. The changes will not become effective until a Restart System
command is performed.
From the Service Menu, perform the following:



 Press Enter twice to select Save Configuration.
 Type a new Site Name, or accept the existing one by pressing the
arrow down button.
 Type a new Operator Name, or accept the existing one by
pressing the arrow down button.
 Press Enter to type a new Site Configuration Version then press
Enter, or accept the existing one by pressing the arrow down
button.
 Press Enter to type a new Description then press Enter, or accept
the existing one by pressing the arrow down button.
 To confirm, press Enter.

3.3 Restart System

Note that you always have to save a configuration (chapter 3.2) and
restart the system in order to activate a configuration:
 each time a configuration has been changed
 after an initial startup (part of the start-up procedure)

 Press the arrow down button to select Restart System, then press
Enter.
 If the system is to be restarted after a configuration has been

changed, the following message will appear:
”System configuration data has been changed. If the system is
restarted without saving configuration data, the changes will be
lost. Save data before restarting?”
o Use the left arrow button to select Accept, then press Enter
twice.
o Type a new Site Name, or accept the existing one by pressing
the arrow down button.
o Type a new Operator Name, or accept the existing one by
o Press Enter to type a new Site Configuration Version then
press Enter, or accept the existing one by pressing the arrow
down button.
o Press Enter to type a new Description then press Enter, or
accept the existing one by pressing the arrow down button.
o To confirm, press Enter.
After a short period the message “Configuration has been
saved” will appear.
o Press the left arrow button, then press Enter to confirm.
 If the system is to be restarted after an intitial startup, the

following message will appear: “Restart of the system will perform
a controlled shutdown before restart. This may take a while,
depending on the system size.”
o Use the left arrow button to select Accept, then press Enter to
confirm.
The message ”System is now shutting down…” will appear,

and a bar will appear at the bottom showing the progress of the
reboot.

3.4 Day Mode Operation Times

By default the entire system is set to Night Mode, meaning that the
system is set to immediate output actioning.
The system menu Day Mode Operation Times allows you to

configure settings for automatic delay of the activation of outputs to
Fire Alarm Devices (FAD) and/or Fire Alarm Routing Equipment
(FARE) at certain periods.
The settings will only affect points that have been set to “Override
Delay and Dependency NO” in detection zones configured as
Delayed Action Detection Zones or Delayed Dependency Detection
Zones.
To achieve this, you simply choose the days in the week when you
want the system to automatically enable the delays, plus the exact
duration of the disablement in hours and minutes (the start time and
end time).
A maximum of 14 settings are available (for example, 7 days; 2

intervals per day, or, for example, 14 intervals for one specific day).
Note that overlapping settings are not possible.

 Press the arrow down button to select Day Mode Operation
Times, then press Enter twice.
 Use the left/right arrow button to select among the following days:

o Unspecified
o Every day
o Monday to Friday
o Saturday, Friday, Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Monday,
Sunday.
 Press Enter.
 Use the alphanumeric keypad to specify the start time*
(hours:minutes), then press Enter.
 Specify the end time* (hours:minutes), then press Enter.
* Note that if an invalid input is given, a message indicating this will

appear in the display.
It is recommended that all settings (for example, settings for 4

different days) are done before the settings finally are confirmed.
To view existing Day Mode Operation Times, refer to chapter 3.4.1.

To add new Day Mode Operation Times to existing ones at a later
point of time, refer to chapter 3.4.2.
 Press and hold down the Function button a few seconds

(“Long press to accept or cancel”).
 To confirm the new settings (Accept), press Enter.

3.4.1 Viewing Existing Day Mode Operation Times

 To view existing Day Mode Operation Times, do as follows:
o If you have left the Day Mode Operation Times menu (if you
have not, go directly to the next step), return to the System

3.4.2 Adding new Day Mode Operation Times

 To add a new Day Mode Operation Time at a later point, provided
that there are available settings (maximum 10), do as follows:
o In the System Settings menu, press the arrow down button to

select Day Mode Operation Times, then press Enter twice.
o Scroll downwards using the arrow down button several times

until “Unspecified “ is shown (pressing the arrow down button 3
times will reveal the next setting, pressing 3 times more will
reveal the next setting, etc.).
The number of times you have to press the arrow down button
before “Unspecified” is shown in the display depends on the
number of settings that already are defined.
For example, if there is 1 previous setting, you have to press

the arrow down button 3 times before “Unspecified” is shown. If
there are 2 previous settings, you have to press the arrow
down button 6 times before “Unspecified” is shown.
o When “Unspecified” is shown in the display, use the left/right

arrow button to select among the days that are available, and
continue as described in chapter 3.4.

3.5 Service Mode Password

This menu allows you to change the Service Mode Password.
A total of 4 characters must be used.


 Press the arrow down button to select Service Mode Password,
then press Enter twice.
 Type the new password, then press Enter.
 Type the new password once more, then press Enter.
 To confirm the new password, press Enter once more.
The message “Please wait…” will appear in the display and the
new password will take effect within a couple of seconds.
3.6 Date and Time

This menu allows you to set/change the date and time.


 Press the arrow down button to select Date and Time, then press
Enter twice.
 To change the time, overwrite the time (hours, minutes, seconds),
then press Enter.
 To change the date, overwrite the date (day, month, year), then

3.7 Set Operator Panel Connection
This command allows the operator to specify how the operator panel
is connected.
 If the panel is to be operated as a standalone panel (and the
panel is connected accordingly, i.e. J7), the menu selection
Operator Panel must be selected (default).
 If the panel is to be connected to a panel bus, the menu selection
Auxiliary terminal block (J4) must be selected.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The default panel connection setting (Service Menu/System

Settings/“Set Operator Panel connection”) is set to “J7,
Operator Panel” (connector J7). Likewise, the cables from
the integrated operator panel BS-210 are connected to
connector J7.
All panels delivered from our factory are thus prepared for
operating as a standalone cabinet with an integrated BS-210
and with no external panel bus.
If an external panel bus with additional panels is to be

connected to the cabinet or the operator panel BS-210 is to
be placed outside the cabinet, the panel connection setting
and cabling (communication cables) must be changed during
installation/commissioning in order to achieve redundancy
and fault monitoring of the panel bus.



3.8 Sound Patterns

The standard setup of the system provides the following default
sound patterns in the following prioritized order:

Pattern Activation
Detection zones are connected to alarm zones (Main Alarm Zones).
An alarm signal from the detection zones activates the EVACUATE
pattern in these alarm zones. Neighbour Alarm zones may be
connected to the Main Alarm Zones. The Neighbour Alarm Zones
will have the ALERT pattern activated.
The remaining patterns may be activated from an input signal

configured as “Activate all Alarms” (refer to 5.9.2). Be aware of the
priority given in the table above.
The following settings are available for each sound pattern:
The Sound Pattern is set by choosing a predefined 16 bit number

(binary) which determines the pattern (for example, the Alert Pattern,
including the following bits; 1000000010000000). The one-digits
correspond to ON, and the zero-digits correspond to OFF.
Prolong Signal: It is possible to prolong the last signal (i.e. the last
bit) for a chosen sound pattern from 1 to a maximum of 99 seconds.
Sound Level: It is possible to choose between High, Medium or Low

sound level. (Not applicable for BBL-100 and BBL-100/IP).
Sound Tone: It is possible to choose between Continuous or Slow

Whoop. (Not applicable for BBL-100 and BBL-100/IP).

3.9 Automatic Resound

During normal operation:
When pressing the Silence button in the event of an alarm, all fire
alarm devices (FADs) will be deactivated. The red Fire Alarm
indication lamp will switch from a pulsing to a steady light. At this
stage, the resound timer will start. The resound timer will restart on
each operation of the Silence button.
Holding the Silence button down for more than 7 seconds will
activate the Resound function (this message appears in the
information field).
The alarm zones are by default automatically resounded to their

alarm states on timeout (configurable) of the Silence resound timer.
The menu selection Automatic Resound allows you to determine

whether an automatic resound is possible or not. By default,
automatic resound is off (No) and the time delay is set to 12
minutes.


 Press the arrow down button to select Automatic Resound, then
press Enter twice.
 To select YES, press the right arrow button, then press Enter.
 To change the Time Delay, use the Cancel button to delete it,
then type the new one and press Enter.
3.10 Detection Zone (DZ) Delay Timers

During normal operation, when the operator panel receives a fire
alarm signal from a point in a Delayed Action detection zone
(configurable), the actioning of outputs to Fire Alarm Devices (FAD)
can be delayed. Also the actioning of outputs to Fire Alarm Routing
Equipment (FARE) can be delayed with the exception of manual call
points.
The delay is divided into two (configurable) delay periods, Initial

delay, T1 and Prolonged Delay, T2.
 The default value for T1 is 60 seconds
 The default value for T2 is 120 seconds.
 The maximum delay (T1 plus T2) is 10 minutes (600 seconds).
The (T1) delay period is started when a Fire Alarm signal from a
point is received. Actions will be initiated after the T1 delay period
has expired. Pressing the Prolong Delay button, will terminate T1
and the delay period T2 will start.


 Press the arrow down button to select Detection Zone Delay
Timers, then press Enter twice.
 To change the delay timers, use the Cancel button to delete the
present T1 Delay Timer (seconds), then type the new one and
press Enter.
 Repeat this procedure for the T2 Delay Timer, then press Enter.

3.11 Detection Zone (DZ) Global Dependency

This menu selection allows you to turn on Detection Zone Global
Dependency, meaning that an alarm in a detecion zone will require a
second alarm from another point, in any detection zone, before the
detection zone activates any output.
A fire alarm signal from a single detector will initiate no actions, i.e.
there will be no actioning of outputs to;
 Fire Alarm Devices (FAD)
 Fire Alarm Routing Equipment (FARE)
 Fire Protection Equipment (FPE)


 Press the arrow down button to select DZ Global Dependency,
then press Enter.
 The following message appears:

“If enabled, an alarm in a DZ will require alarm from another point, in
any DZ, before the DZ activates any output. Turn on DZ Global
Dependency?”
 To answer YES, press Enter, then press the right arrow button,
and press Enter once more.
 To confirm the new setting, press Enter once more.
3.12 Battery Parameters

This menu allows you to specify the following:
 the minimum charge voltage
 the battery low voltage limit
 the maximum charge current
 the maximum resistance limit

 Press the arrow down button to select Battery Parameters, then

press Enter twice.
 Press the right arrow button to select the minimum charge voltage
(default 21000mV, minimum 20000mV, maximum: 31000mV),
then press Enter.
 Press the right arrow button to select the battery low voltage limit
(default 21000mV, minimum 17900mV, maximum: 31000mV),
then press Enter.
 Press the right arrow button to select the maximum charge
current (default 1500mA, minimum 1000mA, maximum: 2000mA),

3.13 Panel Name

This menu allows you to change the Panel Name.

3.15 FARE and FWRE Disablement

This menu selection allows you to disable Fire Alarm Routing
Equipment (FARE) and Fault Warning Routing Equipment (FWRE)
when the system is in access level 2 or 3. In this way, the outputs to
Fire Alarm Routing Equipment (FARE) and Fault Warning Routing
Equipment (FWRE) will – assuming that this setting has been
chosen -always be disabled during service (in access level 2 and 3).
Note that the disablement will only have effect on the system when
the system is in access level 2 or 3.


 Press the arrow down button to select FARE and FWRE
Disablement, then press Enter twice.
 To disable FARE in access level 2 and 3, use the right arrow
button to select YES, then press Enter.
 To disable FWRE in access level 2 and 3, use the right arrow
button to select YES, then press Enter.
 To confirm the settings, press Enter once more.
3.16 Mains Power Fault Indication

This menu selection allows you to specify a delay period (in minutes)
before a Power Fault indication is shown in the event of a power
outage or electrical power failure.
According to EN 54 regulations, this delay period can be a maximum

of 30 minutes.
If you have specified a delay, it is possible to choose whether or not

you want to disable the outputs to Fire Warning Routing Equipment
as well.


 Press the arrow down button to select Mains Power Fault
Indication, then press Enter twice.
 Type the desired number of minutes (Delay Fault Indication), then
press Enter.
 Use the right arrow button to choose whether you want to disable
the outputs to Fire Warning Routing Equipment (YES/NO), then

3.17 Printer Setup

The menu selection allows you to enable printing of alarm events.
Whenever any alarm events occur, the system will automatically
printout these events.
In addition, you can initiate a printer test instantly to verify that the
communication with the printer is established.
The printer’s operational status is monitored once every hour, and a

fault message is presented in the panel display whenever any
printer fault is detected.
The printer should use its factory default parameters. Refer to the
printer user's guide.


 Press the arrow down button to select Printer Setup, then press
Enter twice.
 Use the right or left arrow button to choose whether you want to
enable printing of alarm events (YES/NO), then press Enter.

3.18 Configuration Check

The menu selection allows you to check the consistency of the
running configuration.
The default value is YES, meaning that if the configuration contains

at least one Detection Zone that does not activate any Alarm Zone,
a fault messages will appear.
Selecting YES will result in the following behaviour:

After system startup, the fault message ”DZ does not activate any
AZ” will appear if one or several Detection Zones are not connected
to an Alarm Zone. The fault message can be acknowledged and a
reset can be performed, but the fault message will reappear if the
fault still exists.
Selecting NO will result in the following behaviour:

No fault messages will appear if one or several Detection Zones are
not connected to an Alarm Zone.

 Press the arrow down button to select Configuration Check, then
press Enter twice.
 Use the right arrow button to choose YES or NO, then press
Enter.

3.19 System Shutdown

This menu selection allows you to bring the panel to a safe state
when the intention is to subsequently switch the power off by
disconnecting the mains power cable.


 Press the arrow down button to select System Shutdown.
 Press Enter, and the following message will appear in the display:

Shutdown will do a controlled shutdown of the services.
When state System Fault is entered, it is safe to power off the
system.”

3.20 Restore Factory Settings

This menu selection allows you to restore factory settings.
Note that all configuration data will be deleted, and the system will
return to its pre-configured state (factory settings).
After the command “Restore Factory Settings” is run, the fault

message “Missing Configuration File” will appear in the display,
which is normal.
The command “Save Configuration” and “Restart System” must then

be run. When these two commands are executed, the configuration
file including the factory settings will take effect, and the fault
message will no longer be shown.


 Press the arrow down button to select Restore Factory Settings.
 Press Enter, and the following message will appear in the display:
”All configuration data will be deleted and the system restarted.

Are you sure you want to continue?”
 To execute the command, use the left arrow button, then press

4.6 Show Low Current Units
The command allows you to identify low current loop units (100mA,
150mA, 200mA and 250mA) that are not intended to be on a high
current loop (300mA, 350mA and 400mA).
An attempt to increase the loop current to 300mA, 350mA or 400mA

for a selected detection loop (command: Service/Unit
Configuration/Detection Loop) will be rejected by the system if low
current units are on this detection loop (a fault message “Low
current loop unit detected” will tell you that there are one or several
low current loop units on the high current detection loop).

5.2.2 Configure Properties for a Detection Zone

The following properties apply:
 view/change the name of a detection zone
 change the alarm organization, i.e. the detection zone type
(Immediate Action, Dependency Action, Delayed Action, Delayed
Dependency Action, SOLAS).
Note that the default Detection Zone will always have the detection
zone type “Immediate Action”, i.e. it cannot be changed.
The system provides the following types of detection zones with

different properties:
 Immediate Action detection zone
 Dependency Action detection zone
 Delayed Action detection zone
 Delayed Dependency detection zone
 SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) detection zone
The property of a detection zone as well as the type of point

(detector or manual call point) will determine how the system
responds to the signal - with respect to action. For information on
alarm organization and the different types of detection zones, refer
to Appendix.
From the Detection Zones Menu (5.2.1), perform the following:

 After selecting the detection zone in question by means of the

arrow down/up buttons, press Enter twice.
 Type a new Name then press Enter, or accept the existing one by

5.3.2 Configure Properties for an Alarm Zone

To configure properties for an alarm zone, it is assumed that fire
alarm devices (FADs) have already been connected to an alarm
zone (the menu selection Fire Alarm Device).
From the Alarm Zones Menu (5.3.1), perform the following:

 After selecting the alarm zone in question by means of the arrow
down/up buttons, press Enter twice.
 Type a new Name, or accept the existing one by pressing the

arrow down button.
 Press Enter.
 Use the left or right arrow button to select a Parent Alarm Zone,
then press Enter.
 Use the right or left arrow buttons to choose whether you want
Immediate Activation or not (YES/NO), then press Enter.
* Parent Alarm Zone (default alarm zone):

The top-level Alarm Zone is called the Parent Alarm Zone. A system
consists of a Parent Alarm Zone, usually with several “sub-level”
alarm zones in an hierarchy.
Each “sub level”-alarm zone is related to a specific area of, for
example, a building.
If an alarm occurs in a Parent Alarm Zone, all Fire Alarm Devices
(FADs) within the Parent Alarm Zone, plus all FADs belonging to all
“sub-level”-alarm zones will be activated.
5.3.3 Connect to Neighbour Alarm Zone

This menu allows you to define a neighbour alarm zone for a
selected alarm zone, or define the neighbourhood relation between
alarm zones.

 After pressing the Function button for a selected alarm zone,

select Connect to Neighbour Alarm Zone (the first menu
selection), then press Enter.
 From the list of alarm zones, select an alarm zone that is to be
defined as a neighbour alarm zone, then press Enter.
 If you want to define another alarms zone as neighbour alarm

5.10 Loop I/O Carriers
5.10.1 Description
The loop units BN-303, BN-304, BN-305 and BN-306 are defined as
Loop I/O Carriers.
A Loop I/O Carrier is a loop unit hosting one or several I/O subunits.
The Loop I/O Carrier itself and all the input/outputs are assigned
separate loop unit IDs.
The Loop I/O Carrier’s dipswitch setting determines which function is

assigned to the inputs/outputs. A Loop I/O Carrier may only have
one function, which falls into one of the following categories:
 Point
Inputs with function Prealarm and/or Alarm and/or Fault, all
latching,
except BN-30x/E Prealarm
 Input
Inputs are either On or Off
Inputs may also give “Supervisory Alarm” (configurable)
 Output
Outputs are either On or Off

Outputs configured to function K, L or M are either Steady On or Off.

These units are also using sensor inputs (used for monitoring of the
output). The sensor inputs are either On, Off, or Undetermined.

5.14 Detection Loops

This menu selection allows you to:
 define the name of a detection loop
 override the system calculated preset current
 set a different limit for the maximum possible loop current for a
selected detection loop.
The following different default settings are possible: 100mA,

150mA, 200mA, 250mA, 300mA, 350mA and 400mA.
Note that the high current settings 300mA, 350mA and 400mA are
only available with BSA-200A or BSD-200A (revision A required).
Due to limitations of the power supply, the system will not allow
configuration of a total loop current exceeding 1200 mA.
When the system is powered up, or the loop driver is enabled, the
system will automatically calculate and set a current limit which is
optimized for each loop individually, depending on the number and
type of loop units. If the operator has configured a maximum loop
current value being higher than the system preset value, this
value will not be changed by the system.
In some cases the system may allow the operator to override the
system preset loop current and decrease the maximum loop current
to a value being 50 mA lower the preset loop current. This should
only be used if the system reports a fault on the loop resistance
being too high. Overriding and decreasing the preset loop current
with 50 mA may be sufficient to avoid this fault.

6.2 Testing Detection Zones

To be able to manually test points (detectors or manual call points)

Alarm Routing Equipment (FARE) or Fire Alarm Devices (FAD),
selected detection zones, can be set to test mode. In this mode, any
point connected to the selected detection zone(s) can be tested
individually (with, for example, test gas) without automatic actioning
(i.e. without audible indication) from sounders, bells, etc.

Unit Test, then press Enter.
 Press Enter once more to select Detection Zones (the uppermost

selection).
 Use the arrow button to select the detection zone that is to be
tested. Use, if necessary, the multiselect feature to select
several detection zones.
(To view detailed information for one selected detection zone before

appear in the display. It is possible to toggle betweent the tagname
and the production number by using the left and right arrow buttons.
7.4 Show All Faults

This menu selection allows you to view detailed fault information
related to the panel bus and a selected loop.


 Use the arrow button to select the panel bus or the loop you
want to view.
 Use the arrow down button to select Show All Faults, then press
Enter.
All faults related to the panel bus, or the selected loop in the entire
system will appear in the display.

7.5 Clear Loop Config. – Restart System

This command allows you to delete all points on a selected detection
loop.
NOTE: All existing configuration on the selected detection loop will

be deleted.
The command is useful in the following cases:
 When major changes are to be done on an existing detection

loop, i.e. a large amount of points on a detection loop are to be
removed and others are to be added.
The advantage: you do not have to accept points - one by one –
that are removed before the new configuration is saved. Fault
messages will not appear after system restart.
 When the configuration of a detection loop is not completed by

the end of the day, and the service technician intends to complete
the configuration of this detection loop the next day, executing this
command will save the configuration and the detection loop in
question will be fully functional and resume normal operation after
system restart. The technician can complete the configuration the
next day without dealing with unnecessary fault messages.
 Expanding a system:
If a loop is to be moved from one panel to another, all topology
information for this loop on the replaced panel will be deleted.
Note that the Clear Loop Config. – Restart System command will not
affect the detectors’ Performance Class settings. For example, an
optical detector that has been set to “Industrial” will still have this
setting after the command is executed.


 Use the arrow button to select the panel bus or the loop.
 Use the arrow down button to select Clear Loop Config. –
Restart System, then press Enter.

“The configuration related to any unit on this loop will be deleted and
the loop will be completely restarted.”
 Use the left arrow button to select Accept, then press Enter.

7.6 Deactivate
This menu selection allows you to deactivate a selected detection
loop. If for example, a detection loop is not in use for any reason,
this detection loop can be deactivated.
Note that deactivation of a loop is only allowed when the loop does
not contain any loop units.


 Use the arrow button to select the detection loop you want to run
this command for.
 Use the arrow buttons to select Deactivate, then press Enter.
The selected detection loop will be deactivated (until it is manually

activated by running the Activate command).
7.7 Activate
This menu selection allows you to activate a selected detection loop
or the panel bus which is deactivated.
Note that activation of a loop is only allowed when the loop does not
contain any loop units.


 Use the arrow button to select the panel bus or the detection loop
you want to run this command for.
 Use the arrow buttons to select Activate, then press Enter.
The selected detection zone will be activated.

The USB output J12 is used for this purpose. It is easily accessible

To be able to analyse system behaviour for service and
maintenance purposes, a number of events are recorded, including:
 The date, time and identity of detection zones entering an alarm

state.
 The date, time and identity of an individual component, a group, a
zone, etc. issuing a fault warning signal.
 The date, time and identity of an individual component, a group, a
zone, etc. entering the disabled/enabled state.
 The date, time of all user operations.
 The date, time of all manually initiated tests.
The Export Log command allows you to export the following two files

configuration or backup configuration).

buttons to select the configuration (Current Configuration,

This command allows you to take an internal backup of the current
configuration.
Make sure to save all recent configuration changes (using the Save
Configuration command in the System Settings menu, chapter 3.2)
before executing the Backup Current Configuration command.

 Press the arrow down button to select Backup Current
Configuration, then press Enter.

8.6 Export Configuration

This command allows you to export configuration files from the
system to a USB memory stick.
Make sure to save all recent configuration changes (using the Save
Configuration command in the System Settings menu, chapter 3.2)
before executing the Export Configuration command.
NOTE:
When exporting log files and configuration files, existing log files
and configuration files on the USB memory stick will be overwritten.


 Press the arrow down button to select Export Configuration, then
press Enter.

A Configuration Report is generated and written to the USB

memory stick when the Export Configuration command is run. The
report is written to the file “Config Report.csv” and can be opened in
Excel. The report provides a complete overview of the current
configuration, including any configuration changes that may not have
been saved.

This command allows you to import configuration files from a USB
memory stick.
The imported configuration will have no impact on the running

system. To use the imported configuration the system must be
restarted (Restart System, chapter 8.4.).

9. Configuration Examples
9.1 Before you Start

Autroprime is provided to the user in a pre-configured state, in this
state the panel is set to recognize detectors and other loop units
connected to the detection loops and the availability of routing
equipment, etc.
To simplify the understanding of the configuration principles, the first

example (1) deals with 1 loop and 8 points only.
The default setup provides the following:

 Loop Units/Points: All loop units, including; detectors, manual
call points (points), electronic sounders and I/O units, are
automatically assigned addresses (sequencially numbered)
starting with address A1001, followed by address A1002, A1003
and so on. The addresses are used as names in the configuration
menu.
 Detection Zones and Alarm Zones: By default the system has
one Detection Zone and one Alarm Zone.
 Activation of Outputs: A point in alarm will activate all Fire
Alarm Devices and Fire Alarm Routing Equipment.
 Detection Zone Type: All detection zones are defined as
Immediate Action Detection Zones.
Based on this default configuration, a site-specific configuration can

be carried out. The examples (example 1 and 2) in this chapter
deals with a site-specific configuration of a typical medium-sized
installation.

9.2.3 Initial Startup – Default Configuration

When the power is turned on, the green Power indicator lights up
with a steady green light, and an initialization starts.

Before you start the site-specific configuration, two commands
should be executed; Save Configuration and Restart System.
In this way, prior to the site-specific configuration, you can verify that
the system works properly using the default configuration.
Furthermore, you will have a fully operational system while you are
performing the site-specific configuration.
When the initialization procedure is completed, the panel will

recognize detectors and other loop units and the system topology is
shown in the display.
 Turn the key clockwise.
 To enter Service Mode, press and hold down the Enter button for
a few seconds.
 Use the Arrow down button to select Service, then press Enter
(the Service Menu will appear in the display).
9.2.4 Save Configuration / Restart System

 Select System Settings (the uppermost menu selection which is
highlighted), then press Enter.
 Select Save Configuration (the uppermost menu selection which
is highlighted), then press Enter.
 Type the Site Name, then press Enter.
 Type the Operator Name, then press Enter.
 Type the Site Configuration Version, then press Enter.
 Type a Description, then press Enter.
 Use the Arrow down button to select Restart System.

 Use the left Arrow button to select Accept, then press Enter.
The message “System is now shutting down…” will appear, and the
system will reboot automatically.

When the system reboot is completed, you can enter Service Mode,
and start the first step of the site-specific configuration.

 Step 2: Connect the new detection zones to the alarm zone

The new Detection Zones, DZ1, DZ2, DZ3 and DZ4 have to be

When the site-specific configuration is completed, you have to
save the new configuration and restart the system (refer to
chapter 9.2.4).
 In this example, only one Alarm Zone is defined. By default, all

Fire Alarm Devices are connected to the one default Alarm Zone.
Therefore, no configuration is required (you do not have to
connect Fire Alarm Devices to the Alarm Zone). Refer to chapter
5.5.3
 In this example, all points activate outputs to Fire Alarm Devices

(FAD), Fault Warning Routing Equipment (FWRE) and Fire Alarm
Routing Equipment (FARE). As this specific functionality already
is provided by the default configuration, no configuration is
required.

 Configuration Example 2 is based on the steps that are already

performed in Configuration Example 1. The following steps cover
the configuration that has to be added/changed in order to complete
Configuration Example 2.
Step 1: Create the new detection zones and connect the points (loop

All new points in the Storage/Workshop building have to be

Routing Equipment (FARE). As this specific functionality already
is provided by the default configuration, no configuration is
required.

 Use the multiselect feature* to select all points that are to be

connected to the same detection zone, for example starting with
Detection Zone 5, including:

still holding down the Select button, press the Arrow Down button

10.1 Clipboard Functions

Autroprime features clipboard functions (similar to Windows
functionality) which is useful during configuration when entering
names (typically when typing letters and numbers for detection
zones, alarm zones etc).
10.1.1 Copy
The Copy function is useful when similar names are to be used in a
configuration several times, when, for example, naming detection
zones, “Main Building, 1st floor”, “Main Building, 2nd floor”, etc. To
copy an already written name for, for example, a detection zone,
proceed as follows:
 Go to the detection zone in question, and press Enter to
highlight the name field (the name appears on a black
background with light green text).
 Press and hold down the Select button , then press the arrow
left button repeatedly until the entire name is selected (the

name appears in inverse video; on a light green background with
black text).
 Use the arrow down button to select Copy, then press Enter
 The name is now copied, and is placed in the clipboard.
10.1.2 Cut
To cut an already written name for, for example, a detection zone,
proceed as follows:
 Press and hold down the Select button , then press the arrow
left button repeatedly until the entire name is selected (the

name appears in inverse video; on a light green background with
black text).
 Select Cut (the first menu selection), then press Enter

12. Appendix
12.1 Alarm Organization
12.1.1 Detection Zones with Different Properties

When handling events in Operation Mode, it is important to be aware
of how the alarm organization is configured, that is, the system’s
detection zone configuration.
The system provides the following types of detection zones with

different properties:
 Immediate Action detection zone
 Dependency Action detection zone
 Delayed Action detection zone
 Delayed Dependency detection zone
 SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) detection zone
The property of a detection zone as well as the type of point

(detector or manual call point) will determine how the system
responds to the signal - with respect to action.
12.1.2 The Actioning of Alarm Zones

The actioning of alarm zones can be controlled by detection zones,
with or without Delay/Dependency properties.
For example, a detection zone in alarm can activate a number of

alarm zones. The delay period before activation can be defined
according to the property of the chosen detection zone type.
An alarm zone can give both an alarm signal and a neighbouring

alarm zone signal with a different pattern.
The top-level alarm zone (default) is called the Parent Alarm Zone. A
system consists of a Parent Alarm Zone, usually with several “sub-
level” alarm zones in an hierarchy. Each “sub level”-alarm zone is
related to a specific area of, for example, a building. If an alarm
occurs in a Parent Alarm Zone, all Fire Alarm Devices (FADs) within
this zone, plus all FADs belonging to all “sub-level”-alarm zones will
be activated.

12.1.3 Immediate Action Detection Zones

A signal from an Immediate Action detection zone, will initiate all
actions immediately, without any delay. Immediate Action applies to
all units that can be activated by a Immediate Action Detection Zone.
12.1.4 Dependency Action Detection Zones

In areas where points may be exposed to a high level of pollution,
for example, unwanted alarms may occur. In order to avoid this
problem, the Dependency Action alarm organization is used.
A fire alarm signal from a single detector in a system defined as

Dependency Action will initiate no actions, i.e. there will be no
actioning of outputs to;
 Fire Alarm Devices (FAD)
 Fire Alarm Routing Equipment (FARE)
 Fire Protection Equipment (FPE)
 Silent Alarm
At least two detectors in the same detection zone must be in alarm

state before actions are initiated.
It is also possible to configure the system in such a way that a Large

Alarm will be initiated if at least two detectors in the entire system
are in alarm state, regardless of which detection zone each detector
belongs to.
Note that an activation of a manual call point in a dependency

action detection zone will always initiate actions (provided that
the point has been set to Override Delay and Dependency, YES).

12.1.5 Delayed Action Detection Zones

Delays to any output depends on the Day Mode operation of the
system (i.e. the LED for Delayed Action is ON). In Night Mode (i.e.
the LED for Delayed Action is OFF) all outputs will be activated at
first point in alarm.
When the operator panel receives a fire alarm signal from a point in
a Delayed Action detection zone (configurable), the actioning of
outputs to Fire Alarm Devices (FAD) and/or Fire Alarm Routing
Equipment (FARE) can be delayed.
The purpose of this type of alarm organization is to give an

immediate warning, but to delay the activation of outputs. In this way
the cause of the alarm can be investigated before the system
automatically initiates the evacuation of the protected premises and
signals the local fire brigade.
Delayed Action is based on the first point reporting the fire. A second
point in alarm in the same detection zone will not affect the delay of
the connected outputs.
In an alarm situation, the actioning of outputs will be delayed when

the detection zone has been defined as a Delayed Action detection
zone (configurable) and the point(s) in this Delayed Action detection
zone has been set to Override Delay and Dependency, NO.
Note that activation of a manual call point will normally give

immediate output actioning (provided that the point has been
set to Override Delay and Dependency, YES), even though the
immediate output actioning has been disabled (configurable).
The operation of delays to outputs for Fire Alarm Devices (FAD)

apply to:
 detectors and/or
 manual call points and/or
 signals from specific zones
The operation of delays to outputs for Fire Alarm Routing Equipment

(FARE) apply to:
 detectors and/or
 signals from specific zones
The delay is divided into two delay periods, Initial delay, T1

(configurable) and Prolonged Delay, T2 (configurable). The default
value for T1 is 1 minute and 2 minutes for T2.
The T1 delay period is started when a Fire Alarm signal from a point
is received. Actions will be initiated after the T1 delay period has
expired. Pressing PROLONG DELAY, will terminate T1 and the
delay period T2 will start.

T1 for different detection zones may start at different times,

however, when Prolong Delay has been pressed, T2 for all detection
zones will start at the same time.
If one or more Delayed Action detection zones have entered the Fire
Alarm state and are in their T1 or T2 periods, the delayed actions
can be immediately initiated by pressing the Activate Outputs button.
Activation of a manual call point will also give immediate action
(provided that the point has been set to Override Delay and
Dependency, YES).
12.1.6 Delayed Dependency Detection Zones

Detection zones configured as Delayed Dependency Detection
Zones have the following properties in Day and Night Mode:
In Day Mode, outputs that are configured to be activated by these

detection zones will operate according to their actual configuration,
i.e. Silent Alarm, Small Alarm or Large Alarm as follows:
 When a fire alarm signal from the first detector in alarm is

received, the following will occur:
o The detection zone will enter the Silent Alarm state, and all
FPE outputs configured to be activated on Silent Alarm will be
activated. The T1 delay period will start.
o When the T1 delay period expires, the detection zone will enter
the Small Alarm state. All FPE outputs configured to be
activated on Small Alarm will be activated. The T2 delay period
will start.
o When the T2 delay period expires, the detection zone will enter
the Large Alarm state. All FPE outputs configured to be
activated on Large Alarm will operate.
 Note that, at any time, if an alarm from a second detector within

the same detection zone is received, the detection zone will
always enter the Large Alarm State. This means that all (not yet
activated) FPEs configured to be activated on Silent, Small and
Large Alarm will be activated.
In Night Mode, outputs are always activated on the first detector in

alarm and the system will always enter the Large Alarm state. As
with Day Mode this means that all (not yet activated) FPEs
configured to be activated on Silent, Small and Large Alarm will
operate.
Note that when a point sends an alarm signal, and this point
has been set to Override Delay and Dependency, YES, the
Delayed Dependency detection zone will enter the Large Alarm
state directly, regardless of Day or Night Mode.

12.1.7 SOLAS Detection Zones

Note: Applies to Fire Alarm Control Panel BS-200M only.
A detection zone configured as SOLAS Detection Zone (Safety of

Life at Sea), has a two-minute delay from when a Point enters an
alarm condition until the associated Detection Zone initiates the
activation of the configured Fire Alarm Devices (FADs) and outputs.
During this period a countdown timer is shown in the panel display

and the user has the ability to block the activation of FADs and/or
outputs during the two minute period.
The Activate Outputs button can be used to activate the FADs and
outputs that are in this two minute transition period or that have
previously been blocked.
It is also possible to configure a SOLAS Detection Zone to

immediately activate certain FADs and outputs, without the two
minute delay. These FADs and outputs will thus start to operate at
the moment the first Point in a Detection Zone enters the Alarm
condition.
The Silence button can be used to control the FADs independently

of the Block operation. The Silence function will affect all FADs that
have been activated.
Autroprime also has a Resound function that will reverse the effect
of Silence.
12.1.8 Silent, Small and Large Alarm – Overview

A few differences can be found in national guidelines regarding
alarm organization and output delays. To be able to meet these
guidelines you can select between different types of detection zones
and control the activation of outputs.
Three “levels” have been defined regarding the progress of a fire

alarm situation that can be utilized to activate outputs. If delays are
activated, the normal situation will be that all activations will take
place at the ‘Large Alarm’ level, both signalling the fire brigade
(FARE), sounders (FADs) and any other delayed output (FPE).
Activating outputs (FPE) at other levels may be obtained selecting
these levels through configuration.
Onboard (BSA-200) outputs may be configured to be dedicated

outputs for the Silent Alarm and Small Alarm levels. In this case they
will only be activated at these levels.
The table on the next page indicates which levels are available for
different types of detection zones.

Silent Alarm
Any fire alarm signal will be indicated at the panel without any delay,
and this is the Silent Alarm level. An output may be configured to be
activated at this level, as an example to trigger a coded message
through a voice alarm system or an output to make on site technical
personnel aware of the situation.
The delay timer T1 will be started and a countdown timer will be

shown in the display. For a Delayed detection zone the operator
may now initiate a prolonged T2 period.
Small Alarm
In the case of a Delayed Dependency detection zone there is an
automatic transfer from the initial T1 delay period to the prolonged
T2 delay period. When this transfer occurs the level will be
increased to Small Alarm. Looking at a shopping centre this level
may be used for another voice alarm message making the
employees start the preparations for an evacuation. The display will
show the T2 countdown.
(Small alarm level is also shown for Delayed and Dependency

zones, but should not be used as an activation criteria for outputs.)
Large Alarm
The table below shows that this level is the last one (or only) for all
types of detection zones. There are different ways of getting to this
level, either elapsed timers (T1 and/or T2), a second alarm signal or
a panel operation. If not configured otherwise, all outputs will be
activated at this level, fire brigade (FARE), sounders (FAD) and any
other outputs (FPE).
