4. In the story, the boy’s name is not mentioned. The boy is simply
referred to as “he”. Why does the writer do this? Discuss.
The narrator does not use the name of the boy in the story because he is not
telling the particular story of a particular boy and he wants to show the
importance of the mother in the life of a child. He says that the mother plays
an important role in the life of a boy or girl. She leads him the right way and

The most touching aspect of the story is the last scene when the boy
approaches his home after school but does not find his mother at home. It
makes to the readers emotional and develops the sense of sorrow and pity for
the boy who loves his mother very much and is unaware about death in this
world. The boy is too small to understand secret of death and the rule of
nature. He is immature and cannot make himself broad minded to bear the
separation of his mother.
Here the speaker clears that the relation between mother and child is very
close and great which cannot be explained in words. The mental condition of
the boy cannot be explained or understand by others and it makes the readers
too much sad and insist them to realise the same incident.
