3. The design is carried out based on the proposal forwarded by Chief Engineer, Projects I, vide letter No.

WP3-4805/2010 Dtd.16.10.2020

4. The Covered flume is designed for following Hydraulic Particulars

Bed slope : 1 in 1000

Bed width : 1.50 m

Full supply depth : 1250 mm

Free board : 0.50m

5. Basic Dimensions:

Internal dimension : 1500 mm x 1800 mm

External dimension : 2100 mm x 2400 mm

Top slab thickness : 300 mm

Bottom slab thickness : 300 mm

Side wall thickness : 300 mm

Haunches : 150 mm x 150 mm

Wearing coat thickness : 50 mm

Full supply depth : 1250 mm

6. The covered flume is designed for a maximum overburden of 5.00m.

7. The structure is designed based on IS 456: 2000 and IS 3370 (Part II): 2009

on the assumption that field particulars received from execution team is fully compliant including
underlying

strata.
10. 15cm thick levelling course in cement concrete 1:4:8 shall be provided below the covered flume.

11. The cement used shall conform to relevant IS standards.

12. HYSD bars of grade Fe415 conforming to IS 1786-2008 shall be used.

13. Use of standard cement and steel should be in full abeyance as per Circular No. 8/2016/ Fin dated
04/02/2016

issued by Chief Technical Examiner, Government of Kerala.

14. Materials and quality specifications should be in conform with IS 456-2000.

15. The design mix should be approved by competent authority and quality check of relevant materials
should be

performed at respective intervals as laid down in quality control to ensure stability.

16. The clear cover of the main reinforcement shall be 50mm.

17. Lap, anchorage, bending , tying and placing in position of reinforcement shall be done as per
relevant IS codes.

18. Expansion joints and construction joints shall be provided at suitable intervals and shall be in
accordance with

standards/ relevant IS codes.

19. Form work and its stripping time shall be as per IS 456-2000.

20. The top of the covered flume shall be loaded only after three months of completion of the last
segment.

21. Wherever applicable clauses in IS 456-2000 shall be closely followed unless otherwise specified.

22. Various provisions made in the drawing shall be verified with respect to the present site condition
and the

feasibility of the proposal as a whole shall be verified by Chief Engineer, Projects I, before execution.

23. Any change in the design shall be made only with the concurrence of this office; otherwise this
drawing should

be strictly followed. IDRB will not be responsible for any structural failure due to nonconformity of
drawings,

quality of work and non-abeyance of above clauses during execution.

24. The mix design should be verified and approved by the agreement authority prior to use in this work.
25. Quality control should be followed as per relevant guidelines and the periodic check reports should
be

attached with respective invoice of works for verification.

26. IDRB will not be responsible for any types of failure due to:

a) Non conformance of quality of materials including water quality used for work as per relevant clauses,

IS codes

b) Improper mix design.

c) Non conformance of above clauses.

d) Non abeyance of the drawings including any changes executed at site without IDRB approval on these

drawings issued.

e) Variation with the investigation field data issued from site to IDRB for evolving this design and with

actual prevailing at site which may be visible/ identified during the course of execution.
