Assignment No.9

1. The document is a mathematics assignment for 8th grade students containing questions on simultaneous equations, compound interest, and shapes. It contains 13 questions on simultaneous linear equations, compound interest calculation, regular polygon properties, and determining angles and shapes. 2. The questions require students to set up and solve simultaneous linear equations using different methods like substitution, cross multiplication, and equalizing coefficients. Other questions involve calculating compound interest over different time periods and rates. 3. Additional questions test students' understanding of properties of regular polygons like hexagons, calculating interior and exterior angles, and identifying whether shapes are concave or convex.

2. Solve the following simultaneous equations by the substitution method:
(a) 3x + 4y = 22, x + 2y = 2 (b) 7x – 2y = 45, 5x + y = 37

3. Solve the following simultaneous equations by cross multiplication method:

(a) 4x + y = 17, 2x + y = 9 (b) 3x - 4y = 17, x – 4y = 3

4. Solve the following simultaneous equations:

(a) 97x – 78y = 59, 78x – 97y = 116

7. Anita borrowed Rs. 50,000 from State Bank of India at 11% p.a. on compound
interest for 3 years. At the end of one year she repaid Rs. 3500 and Rs. 27,720 at
the end of the second year. Find the amount outstanding at the beginning of the
third year.
8. How much will Rs. 6000 amount to in 2 years at CI if the rates for successive years
are 4% and 5%?
9. Rohit borrows Rs. 86,000 from Arun for two years at 5% p.a. simple interest. He
immediately lends out this money to Varun at 5% interest compounded annually
for the same period. Calculate Rohit’s profit in the transaction at the end of two
years.
