7 Types of Communicative Strategy
You are host of a family program honoring your grand parent on his or her 75 th birthday.

Types of speeches according to delivery
Speech delivery - refers to the expression in words of your message, ideas, thoughts, and
feelings.
4 types of speech according to manner of delivery:
1. Read – this type of speech is read by the speaker from a manuscript prepared by him
or by somebody else commissioned to write it.
2. Memorized- a memprized speech is written in advance by the speaker himself or by
the person commissioned to write it . Oration and declamation pieces are examples of
speeches that are memorized.
3. Extemporaneous – This type of speech is delivered by the speakers who have expert
knowledge on the topic and are therefore able to deliver an entire speech using an
outline of ideas on cue cards. It is no less prepared and organized than a read and
memorized speech .
4. Impromptu- This type of speech is delivered with little to no preparation at events such
as wedding or a victory party. It is usually short and casual.
Principle of speech delivery
To deliver an effective speech, keep in mind the following principles of effective speech
delivery:
1. Articulation- is an act , process, or mean off putting something into words”
- The clear and accurate pronunciation of words especially in public
speaking.
Coherence - refers to the logical orders of ideas expressed.
2. Modulation – To modulate your voice is to change the sound of your voice by making it
quieter, higher, lower etc. Modulation is therefore achieved by changing the tone or
pitch of your voice to convey various nuances of meanings when you speak.
3. Stage Presence- is the ability to command an audience with impressive style or
manner.
4. Facial Expression- This ia a gesture executed with the facial muscles.
5. Gestures- These refer to the movements or position of the hands, arm, head, or face
that is expressive of an idea, opinion, emotions etc.
6. Rapport with the audience- This refers to a speaker’s connection with the audience.
This connection is characterized by harmony, conformity, accord, or affinity.
