ghm1 Task 3
ghm1 Task 3
This video is intended to break down the process of what it takes to create a digital
image, and how to use that image in the creation of a physical product. More specifically, these
are the processes and tools I use to create a digital image with the intention of having it
manufactured.
In the video I created, I have a video feed of me in the bottom right corner, and I am
sharing my screen in order to give a tutorial of a task that is easy to replicate.
Target Audience
This video is produced for individuals with little tech knowhow, that would like to be able
to make a physical product from a digital illustration(e.g. Stickers, patches, enamel pins, t-shirts,
etc.). In addition, this tutorial goes over some basic features of Adobe Photoshop, which may be
valuable to people who are looking for a very remedial explanation of how to use this program.
Software Used:
OBS (https://obsproject.com/)
Photoshop (https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud.html)
Process
1. Go to OBS website/Download
2. Go to Adobe Creative cloud, Create Account, Download Software
3. Open both Photoshop and OBS
4. Click OBS which will bring the following application screen up:
6. To produce the video I made, I had to be sure that I had ‘Display’, ‘Audio Input
Capture’, and ‘Video Capture Device’ in the ‘Sources’ portion of my OBS
application.
*Note: You will need a webcam with a microphone to plug in to your computer if
you do not have one in the computer itself(most laptops nowadays have internal
webcams built in above the display).
7. Once all inputs (Camera, Audio, and Display) are in the sources field of OBS, you
can get ready to start recording.
8. To make the video, I had to think about what I wanted to do and then I basically
rehearsed how I would talk to the camera. After getting a basic idea of what I
wanted to say, and how I wanted to say it, I clicked on OBS on the bottom of my
screen (For Mac, this is called the ‘Docking Station’ or ‘Dock’ for short.).
9. When looking at OBS on your screen, you can start recording by hitting the ‘Start
Record’ button in the bottom right portion of the screen, as shown below.
10. Once you have recorded your video, you can find the recordings on your
computer by finding the word ‘File’ at the top-left portion of your screen. Clicking
on the word ‘File’ brings up a drop-down menu where you can see the option
‘Show Recordings’.
11. After clicking ‘Show Recordings’, the folder with the recordings from OBS will
open up and you can view your videos individually, or find a place to
move/upload them to(Google Drive, YouTube.com, your email, etc.).
Conceptual Framework
For me, I learn well from watching something being done. Often, it is hard for me to
simply translate written directions into action, which is why I chose to design my informational
video to reflect my preferred learning style.
