RESPONSIBILITIES

Contracts Manager shall review contract documents with senior management and ensure that all
necessary resources are made available throughout the construction period by proper planning

and ordering material ahead of the activities. He shall have overall responsibility for carrying

Engineer/Per Commence work after ensuring a Valid Work Permit, Approved Method Statement, ITP and Risk
mit Applicant Assessment Plan are in place. Inspection of setting out prior to start the works. Inspection of
incoming materials and review of test certificates to ensure the quality of materials used for
construction.
Foreman / Assigning and controlling the team involved in the activity. Preparation of work site and
Permit Holder organising required equipments and machinery. Ensuring that the works are implemented in a
safe manner as described in the Method statement and Risk Assessment Plan and a valid work
permit in place by referring the document prior to execution of work.

Giving safety TBT and TRIC to the workforce before the commencement of the activity.
Organising equipments and tools, maintaining all safety precautions and shifting materials to the
site. Ensure that all personnel involved with Tiling work are wearing the correct PPE and are
carrying out their duties in a correct and safe manner by Supervision.
Review method statement to complete the risk assessments and give safety tool box talk to the
site team and site management. Monitor all works to ensure they are being carried out in a
correct and safe manner.
HSE Advisor Ensure that all Plant and Equipment operators are qualified and licensed to operate the
equipment by checking prior to induction. Ensure activity specify risk to personnel involved are
assessed and hazard analysis is carried out, and men involved are briefed in Tool Box Talks.
Monitor, Review & record Safety findings.
Monitor the execution of the works to confirm the Contractor’s compliance with the
QA/QC specification, approved drawings, method statement, ITP’s, etc & maintain the records of
Inspector Quality Control check lists / formats using contract filing system.

1. Description of the Work

This method statement is applicable for application of External corrosion inhibitor application in the
previous concrete wherever suspecting/no evidence of MCI in the fresh concrete concreted location
and provides details pertaining to working methods to be adopted, activities involved, responsibilities,
documentation & to identify the hazards associated and how to mitigate these hazards associated with
this work.

2. Materials Used
All the materials used for external CI work shall be approved by the company prior to start of the work

 Sika Ferrogard-903. (Corrosion inhibiting impregnation)

3. Sequence of the Work


 Identification of locations to be applied.
 Material approval.
 Surface preparation.
 Application of Sika Ferrogard-903.
 Curing and Protection.

 Approved MAS (ACO-2-2001-304-T7-4-A)
 Technical Data sheet of Sika Ferrogard-903.
 Contract Quality Plan.
 Contract Safety Plan.

5. Work Methodology

5.1 Identification of locations:

 With the executed concrete records Sr.Construction Engineer/Sr QC Inspector shall prepare and
mark the locations where suspecting/no evidence of MCI added in the concrete and the same shall
be marked in the latest approved IFC drawings.
 Obtain approval from OGC QC representative and CSR thru RFIW.

5.2 Material Approval:

 Approved Sika Ferrogard-903 material shall be delivered to site in 180kg drum.


 The storage of the material shall be as per Manufacture recommendations.
 Material approval shall be obtained thru MIR.

5.3 Surface Preparation:

 The substrate shall be cleaned free from dirt,dust,oil ,grease and other foreign materials.
 Any small concrete repair/fin hole packing shall be carried out with approved fair face mortar.

5.4 Application:

 As per the Manufacture recommendation temporary movable shed arrangement shall be prepared
and placed in the application location to avoid application in direct sunlight.
 Sika Ferrogard-903 material first coat shall be applied in the concrete surface by roller or brush
application uniformly covered in all surfaces of concrete.
 The required coverage rate shall be of not less than 0.30kg/m2,if the coverage rate found low one
more coating shall be applied in the concrete.
 Necessary pre and post weight shall be checked to ensure the required coverage rate of the
material.

5.5 Curing and Protection:

 The painted surface shall be dampened twice in a day upto three days from the date of
application.
 The area shall be protected to the traffic or other further works upto three days from the
completion of CI application.
 Shall obtain final approval from OGC QC thru RFIW.

6. Safety

A) HSE Procedures

All the critical tasks involved in this work shall be listed out and appropriate Procedures shall be
followed stringently during the execution of the work. In addition to this, Job Safety Plan
pertaining to every activity will be prepared by the Permit Holder and applied during the course of
the activity. Also, Activity Hazard Control Register is available as a supplementary HSE document
for guiding the Supervisors for safe work.

B) Permit to Work System


The Contractor shall follow the COMPANY Permit to Work (PTW) System at work site. General
guidelines of the Company PTW manual will be followed. Company PTW procedure PR-1172 shall be
followed rigorously during the execution of the project. TRIC shall be used for all activities carried
out.

C) Emergency Response Procedures and Mock Drills

Site specific Emergency response procedures & emergency response team shall be developed &
relevant information shall be made available to all employees. Regular emergency drills, based on
various emergency scenarios shall be conducted in accordance with HSE activity matrix. SHOC /
MSDS shall be readily available at site in order to handle the chemicals safely.

D) First Aid Training and First Aiders

Employees shall be trained in Industrial First Aid and will be available to meet the requirement of
one first aider in each crew of 20 employees. When less than 20 people are working at a particular
location, at least one person per shift is to be competent First Aider with access to suitable First
Aid kits. Additional trained first aiders will be introduced in case of increase in manpower.
Refresher training will be imparted to the first aiders on expiry of the validity of their certificates.
Adequate identification marks/stickers shall be made for easy identification of first aider at site.
Daily toolbox talk will be given by the foreman in a language that the work force understands prior
to the risks associated with the activity for that day.

E) Personal Protective Equipments (PPE)

Minimum PPE requirement shall be implemented throughout the whole work site. List of minimum
PPE requirement intended for this method statement are hard hat, safety shoe, hand gloves
(Rubber / Cotton), ear plug, safety goggles, high visibility jacket ,nose masks, safety overalls &
Gum boots. Any other PPE that may be further required shall be made available to site as and when
required.
