Assignment#6

The three most common types of printers are inkjet printers, laser printers, and dot matrix printers. When evaluating printers, one should consider image quality, speed, initial costs, and cost of operation. A dot matrix printer creates an image by using a print head with pins that push ink from a ribbon onto paper in patterns. A laser printer operates by giving a static charge to paper from a roller, using a rotating mirror to reflect laser light forming an image on a charged rotating drum, transferring toner to the paper via the drum, and using a hot roller to bond the toner. Five high-quality business printing devices are thermal wax printers, IRIS printers, dye sublimation printers, plotters, and fiery printers.

ASSIGNMENT NO.

6
1. List the three most commonly used types of printers.

Inkjet printer, laser printer and dot matrix printer

2. List the four criteria you should consider when evaluating printers.

image quality, speed, initial costs and cost of operation

3. Describe how a dot matrix printer creates an image on a page.

it print head contains head contains a cluster of pins. the printer can push the pins out to form
patterns in rapid sequence, and when the pins press un inked ribbon to the paper it will create an
image

4. Explain the process by which a laser printer operates.

The stack of paper in input tray where the magnetic roller gets a piece and the paper is given a
static charge, then the rotating mirror reflects laser, which projects image of the page under the
rotating drum. next the toner is transferred do the charged paper by the drum. Lastly hot roller
bonds toner to paper

5. List five types of high-quality printing devices commonly used in business.

1 thermal wax

2. IRIS

3. dye sublimation

4. plotters
