ASSIGNMENT NO.

7
1. List two reasons why computers use the binary number system.
To convert data into strings of numbers also binary numbers has only two available
symbols (0 And 1)
2. List the two main parts of the CPU and explain how they work together.
1.Control unit directs the flow of the data through the CPU and to and from other
devices. It stores the CPU's microde which contains instructions where all the tasks
of the CPU can perform.
2. Arithmetic logic unit where the actual manipulation update happen. it is connected
to a set of registers small memory areas in the CPU which hold data end program
instructions while they are being processed.
3. Explain the difference between RAM and ROM.
RAM storage data and program code needed by the CPU.
ROM read only memory, nonvolatile it holds instructions death run the computer
when the power is first turned on.
4. Identify two RAM technologies used in PCs.
Static RAM (SRAM), dynamic RAM (DRAM)
5. List three hardware factors that affect processing speed.
Registers, RAM, the system clock
6. Identify four connections used to attach devices to a PC.
Ports
expansion slots and boards
external devices
universal serial bus
small computer system interface (SCSI)
