Rythmic Activities: Elaine Fiona R. Villafuerte March 17, 2021 BSMA-2 (Asynchronus) Mrs. Maria Kathryn Calumpang

The document discusses rhythmic activities and their benefits. It defines rhythm as the systematic division of music into beats that repeat at a specific speed or tempo. Rhythmic activities involve guided movements to a steady beat and are used therapeutically for dementia patients. They improve emotional expression, motor skills, and physical exercise for patients. The elements of rhythm include beat, tempo, intensity, pitch, accent, meter, phrase, bar, count, note, measure, note pattern, and step pattern. The key difference between dance and dancing is that dance refers to organized movement set to music, while dancing expresses emotions through rhythmically disciplined movement.

ANSWERS:

1. Rhythm is one of the fundamental aspects of music theory. To create great

harmonies and melodies you need to understand how rhythm works and how
it is used in your tracks. Rhythm can get complicated very quickly, but if
you learn a few simple concepts it’s not as hard to understand as you may
think. In this guide, we’ll unpack everything you need to start applying
rhythmic or polyrhythmic concepts in your creative process. You’ll know
how rhythms are subdivided in music, how time signatures work, and how to
begin understanding compound and odd time. Rhythm is the way that music
is systematically divided into beats that repeat a specific number of times
within a bar at a collectively understood speed or tempo. Rhythm is how
musicians connect and play with one another. At least, that’s the definition
you would get if you asked a metronome. Rhythm is pretty hard to define.
It’s what makes music, music. Notes, melody, and chords can be easily
described as vibrations in the airwaves that our eardrums can detect. Rhythm
has more to do with your uniquely human perception of time.

3. Rhythmic activities are a series of movements in which individuals can take

part during any steady and prominent beat. Professionals use these activities
as therapeutic treatments for those who suffer from dementia. During a
rhythmic activity session, patients work with a trained leader who guides
them through the activities one-on-one or in a group. A good example of a
rhythmic activity is a drumming circle. Patients can create beats by either

clapping their hands or banging a drum. Other instruments can be used in
these types of activities as well. Even if the patient cannot play any type of
instrument, they can participate in the rhythmic activities by dancing or
performing breathing exercises. The music created in rhythmic activities
allows patients to improve emotional expression, improve their gross and
fine motor skills and experience an increase in physical exercise. New
patients are often encouraged by the older patients to take part in these
activities if they are feeling apprehensive. Families help ensure that rhythmic
activities are successful by joining in on the fun. When patients see that they
are sharing something with a family member that is both exciting and
therapeutic, many believe that the healing can take place faster.

 Pitch—lowness or highness of a tone.

 Meter—the regular recurrence of beats which divides a musical
design into measure.
 Phrase—measures grouped together.
 Bar—in music a vertical line across a staff dividing it into equal

6. Dance refers to movement set to music where there emerges organization,
structure and pattern. It is a composition that implies arrangement of parts
into a form while dancing means, it is expressing one’s emotions through
movement disciplined by rhythm. It is an act of moving rhythmically and
expressively to an accompaniment. The word dancing came from an old
German word “danson” which means to “stretch”. Essentially, all dancing is
made up of stretching and relaxing.
