V. Resultant of Non-Concurrent Force System
A Non-Concurrent Force System is shown in Fig 3.7, the given forces S, T and U are neither parallel
nor intersecting at a point. As to how the Resultant Force is determined, its magnitude and
direction, the equation 𝑅 = (𝑅𝑥) + (𝑅𝑦) and tan Ꝋ = can be used where 𝑅𝑥 = ∑𝐹𝑥
and 𝑅𝑦 = ∑𝐹𝑦. It is noticeable that the equations used are the same, therefore, concepts used
on the previous lessons will be applied. In determining the position of the Resultant Force, the
theorem of Varignon can be used, thus, ∑Mo = Rd.
