Use the noun in the possessive case:


1. The night he had chosen a basement bar at stone’s throw from Scotland Yard,
(stone)
2. As he passed through the clerks’ room he saw an evening paper spread out on
the desk of the director’s -nephew, (clerks, director)
3. He said to her: “Look at my brother James’s property”, (my brother James)
4. He had not been at Timothy’s for nearly two years. (Timothy)
5. But by that time the bride was near the end of the first day’s journey towards

10. Translate into English using the possessive case:


1. Табір туристів був розташований на березі ріки.
The tourist’s camp was located on the river bank.
2. По дорозі ми зайшли у квітковий магазин і купили великий букет троянд
— улюблених квітів моєї матері.
We went to a flower’s shop on the way and bought a large bouquet of roses - my
mother's favorite flowers.
3. Ми з братом купили черевики одночасно. Мої вже зносилися, а в брата ще
зовсім нові.
I with my brother bought shoes at the same time. My shoes are already worn out,
and my brother’s shoes are completely new.
4. У нього не було свого велосипеда, і, коли йому потрібно було поїхати на
станцію, він брав велосипед у сусіда.
He did’t have his own bicycle, and when he needed to go to the station, he took the
neighbor’s bicycle.
5. Як звуть сестру вашого друга? 6. Це не його слова, вони належать якомусь
письменнику.
What is your friend's sister's name? 6. These are not his words, it some writer’s
words.
