USER INTERFACE:
User interface is composed of a 2x16 character LCD for output to the user and 4 buttons for user
input purposes. LCD is used for displaying all kinds of messages and menu parameters. Generally; line
1 of the LCD is used for displaying status information in normal operation and for displaying menu
title in the menu. Line 2 is used for displaying calls, target, duration, position information etc. and for
the values of the menu parameters in the menu. Line 2 objects in normal working operation are
related to lift type. Buttons are used for different kind of purposes like changing parameters,
displaying errors etc.

There are 4 buttons on the board:

Generally; ESC is used to cancel an operation, OK is used to confirm an operation and to save a
parameter into the memory, UP and DOWN buttons are used to change the value of a parameter or
a menu or a screen.

There are some samples of LCD screens shown below:

In this example, normal operating screen is shown. In line 1, current status information is displayed
and in line 2, floor, target and encoder position information is displayed in order.

In order to enter the menu, user should press OK continuously about 3secs until the menu screen
appears while the lift is in normal operating mode and there are no errors. If “Ask for Pass?" is set to
“Yes”, then the password screen appears, if not it directly enters in the menu. Default password is
“0000”. After entering the correct password, the main menu screen appears. Main menu parameters
are indexed as A, B, C… etc. Due to the relatively high number of parameters, they are grouped into
12 related categories. Below is an example screen of a main menu parameter:
User can navigate through main parameters with the up and down arrow keys. After reaching the
desired parameter, user must press OK to enter that menu parameter. Then sub-menus in that main
menu are displayed as shown below:

Sub-menus are indexed as 1, 2, 3… etc. Line 1 displays parameter title, line 2 displays parameter’s
current value.

After reaching the desired sub-parameter with the use of UP and DOWN buttons, user can access the
value of that parameter by pressing OK. Then screen turns into something like shown below:

“>>” means, you can change that value by UP and DOWN buttons. After adjusting the desired value
of the parameter, if ESC is pressed then display returns to the previous stage without saving the
parameter value into the memory. On the other hand if user presses OK button then the value is
saved into the memory and display returns to the previous stage.

To return to the main menu, user should press ESC again and to return to the main operating screen
press ESC again. If no operation is registered for a period of time, the display automatically returns to
the main operating screen.
MENUS:
Menus are divided into 12 main groups according to their function for the sake of simplicity. Main

SERIAL CAR COMMUNICATION BOARD:
When the car communication will be over serial line, this board will be used. SA and SB terminals are
used for communicating with the main board. Serial communication reduces the cable used and
labor work. On serial communication board, there are call inputs, door open/close inputs, seven
segment display outputs, gray/binary code outputs, 2 automatic door outputs, gong output, direction
arrow outputs, car light output, movement buttons for maintenance mode and maintenance board
features.

Caution! Communication system is highly resistant to the electrical noises and faults but to
gurantee error free communication, the wires used in communication should be twisted-pair and
screened. They should also be as away as possible from the high power and high frequency carrying
wires. If flexible cable had to be used, then the communication wires should be at the other end of
the flexible cable that carries high voltage signals and it is advised to connect the wires on either side
of the SA and SB wires to the 1000(control ground) terminal for better chance of error free
communication.

If there is a communication error, the display will show “H” character.

MAGNETIC SENSOR SWITCH AND MAGNETS:
ASLR-30 control board currently supports two floor counting systems(more will/can be added in
the future upon reqirement or demand if possible). These are M0 counter system for Two-Speed
lifts and Encoder/ML1-ML2 counter system for VVVF and Hydraulic lifts.

M0 Floor Counter (Positioning) System:

In this type, floors are counted with the help of M0 Bi-Stable magnetic switch. M0 both counts
the floor and slows-down the lift. Advance door opening and levelling functions are not available
for this mode. Floor position determination and stopping the lift is made by the help of JF Bi-
Stable magnetic switch. Round magnets are used for Bi-Stables to sense. Magnets and switches
must be installed onto the car and rails as shown in the related drawing.

Since this is not an absolute positioning system, after an electrical shortage, position may be lost
although the last position is saved into the memory, especially if the lift drifts much. In this case
position resetting should be activcated to reset the postion when the power returns.

Encoder/ML1-ML2 Counter (Positioning) System:

In this system, floors are counted by ML1-ML2 Mono-Stable magnetic switches. This mode allows
advance door opening and floor re-levelling. This fuctions are only operated in ML1-ML2 magnet
region for security. Out of this region advance door opening and re-levelling does not work even
if they are enabled from the menu. Magnet used for switches to sense is of strip type which is
usually 30cm in length. All magnets on the floors must be equal in length. Because in
identification this magnet is used as reference to determine the lengts used in system. Mis-
adjustments may cause faulty operation and distance calculations and position levels may not be
true. One is installed for every floor on the rails.

Magnetic switches are to be installed as ML1 is on top of the ML2. Otherwise when the lift
moves, the board issues a fault and stops the lift. ML1-ML2 should be installed in a row, seeing
only one side of the guide rail and rigidly. There should be 5-10 cm interval between ML1 and
ML2 and magnet length should be selected accordingly.

Center of the magnets should be installed across to the center of the ML1 and ML2 and there
should be 1-2 cm distance between them.

Installations must be made like this for all floors. Below the installation is shown in figure.

1 -2 cm

ML1 15 cm
ML2

FLOOR LEVEL
ENCODER CONNECTIONS:
Possible encoder connections are shown below. Encoder pulse voltage should be between 5-30 VDC.

SHAFT IDENTIFICATION AND PREPARING THE LIFT FOR WORKING:

Shaft identification is valid for Encoder/ML1-ML2 counter system. For error-free and correct
shaft identification, the lift components must be installed correctly and connections must be
made truly. For this, 817 and 818 bi-stable magnetic switches and magnets must be installed at
the bottom and top deceleration distances correctly. Encoder and ML1-ML2 directions and
orders must be true. Mono-stable magnetic switches and magnets must be in correct position
and in length. After all preparations made, all must be verified in maintenance mode before shaft
identiciation is started.

If everything is in order and OK then strip magnet length is set from the menu. If desired, number
of floors can be set from the menu but not required because in identification, when the board
detects 818, it will determine that floor as the last stop and adjust the number of floors in the
menu and save.

After everything is OK, then identification is started by making “Identify Shaft” menu as “Yes”
and pressing “OK”. If the car is below 817 then it will be moved upwards in slow speed until it
detects 817. Otherwise, it will move in high speed downwards until it detects 817 then slows-
down and stops when it detects ML1-ML2.

Lift will go up and down 2 times for identification. For the first time, it goes up in high speed and
slows down when it detects 818 and stops at floor. And then it goes down in high speed and
slows down when it detects 817 and stops at floor. For the second time it goes up and down in
high speed again but it passes floors at slow speed for precision position determination. After
that, for test purpose, lift goes to floor 1 and stops which will end identification and displays
“IDENTIFICATION COMPLETED”.
If identification succeeded then related values are updated and saved. These value can be
monitored from within the menu. If an error occurs while in identification, it will be aborted
without updating the values and return to “IDENTIFY SHAFT” menu.

After identification, several call are registered and an average offset is determined which will be
entered in “Deceleration Distance at Low-Speed” menu. This value affects all floors offset
equally. After this, all floors position should be fine tuned one by one in either direction. This can
be done in 2 ways.

First, the lift will be send to every floor in either direction and offset will be written down. These
values will then be entered into the related menu. If the lift passed the floor, the correction will
be entered as “-” otherwise as “+”. Positions are then checked again and if required the
operation is repeated.

Secondly, the corrections can be made from within the car. For this purpose, “Allow Floor Level
Adjustment from within the Car” menu should be adjusted as “Yes”. This will allow correction
from within the car. After that, the the lift will be send to the floor that we’ll make correction.
When the lift stops, door open button and the call button of the current floor is pressed at the
same time for a while until the out of service warning appears. After that, without releasing the
door open button, the lift is moved up by floor 1 button (402) and moved down by floor 0 (401)
button. When the position is ok, then the door open button is released and current position is
saved as new floor level. Similarly all floor corrections can be made in both directions. After a
while, if not made “NO” from “Allow Floor Level Adjustment from within the Car” menu or by
pressing K20, 401 and 402 at the same time and release, the menu will automatically turn to
“NO”. This will cancel correction permission. If required it can be made “YES” from the menu
again.

PANEL AND SHAFT CIRCUIT SCHEMATIC SAMPLES:

In the following section, several connection diagrams of panel and shaft are presented for different
kinds of control types. These are only for reference and are not mandatory or claimed to be
absolutely correct. Although they are checked, there may be errors and our firm cannot be held
responsible for this. The user can form his/her own schematic for his/her requirements but should
take the safety requirements and standarts into consideration. If you find any errors or you have
