confusing or, at wo rst, just plai n un usable. Our igno ran ce about good desi gn of a
s yst em ma y be du e to various causes such as ou r carel es sness abo ut dev elo ping
adapt abl e interfaces, lack of common sen se and time et c.

So, our prim ar y focus will b e to i mprov e th e int eractions bet ween users and
comput ers b y m akin g comp uters mo re u sable an d receptiv e to the user's need and to
design s yst ems that minimize the barri er b etween the hum an 's cognitiv e model of
what the y want to accomplis h and the computer's understan ding of the user's task. In
short, we hav e to focus on the design of an interface which will satisf y t he abov e
criteria.
