COLD CALL SCRIPT

Gatekeeper: Hello, XYZ Company. How can I help you?

If you don’t know the Decision-Maker’s name

You: Hi this is ______, I am with [agency name] and we are a boutique digital marketing agency that specializes in
helping local businesses in [industry] grow their businesses.

Are you the right person to speak with in regards to digital marketing and social media?

Them:
Yes: Move on
No:
You: Ok, can I speak with the right person?

If they don’t know who runs the social media:

Gatekeeper: I’m not sure what is this about?

You: I just wanted to speak with them in regards to their Facebook page, I noticed that engagement was very low
and we help local businesses like [insert name] use social media to bring in new customers or clients! Is there a good
e-mail to reach them at or a time to call back?

Gatekeeper: (Typically they will either give you a name of who runs it, or will find out). If they do not know still ask
if the owner is available. If they aren’t in, Ask “When will they be in?”
(try back then) and get the e-mail.

Effective Openers For The Decision-Maker

You: Hi ________? This is _________ from [YOUR COMPANY NAME]. I wanted to reach out because I run a
small boutique digital marketing firm that specializes in partnering with businesses in ______ to drive revenue
growth.
I noticed you are doing some of the right things with the Facebook page, but noticed that engagement is below 1%
(taken from likealyzer.com).

I just wanted to talk about a few ways that we are helping local businesses like [insert] better use social media to
make a big impact in their business. Have you thought about digital marketing as a priority for 2018?

Get them to open up and rock and roll on the client meeting guide!!!

If they say no:

You: Totally understand, are you currently at max capacity where you couldn’t possibly bring on anymore
customers?

If they say yes:

You: Wow, that is great. Well, let me circle back in a few months and please keep us in mind the next time you
think about opening another location!

If they say no: At this point, I would just jump into the client meeting guide and just push on, OR I would
empathize and say:

I definitely get it. We work with a lot of businesses who haven’t used or needed to use social media in the past and it
can be time consuming and hard to measure results. We pride ourselves on providing complete visibility to return on
investment and helping our clients economically grow their businesses. THEN move into client meeting guide

If they still push back:

You: Look I know you’re busy, but the reason I’m pushing is I saw several things on your facebook page that will a
few small changes, could have a major impact on your business. I’m not charging for this audit, just want to share
with you somethings that are working well for other businesses in the area. When are you available this week for 15
minutes?

If it’s still a no:

Move on, there’s plenty of business out there that know social media can help them, but have no clue how to
implement any of this.

Effective Proposal Meeting Closing Techniques

Great. It sounds like your business is doing a lot of the right things and with a few social media marketing
campaigns, could really make a large impact on [INSERT THEIR GOALS] (more clients, revenue, profits, ect.).

I’d like to take this information back to the team and craft a social media marketing blueprint for the next 90 days.
I’ll dig into what your competitors are doing, the types of ads they are running, full audit of your current strategy,
and roadmap to hit the goals we talked about.

When are you available in the next two days to go over this? There’s no charge for this. The goal is, whether you
decide to work with us or not, that you walk away from this with a better understanding of social media and how
you can drive new business from it. Sound good?
When are you available? (pull up calendar and lock it down on the call).

If they say a certain day that works, give them two specific times that work for you. Don’t say the whole day is
open. Say “how does 10am or 1pm work for you?”

If they say give you a time:

Schedule the meeting.

If they are still unsure or say no:

You: Is there something you're still not sure about?

(customer response)

You: Well, in our experience customer’s walk away from our social blueprint call armed with a ton of data and
actionable steps to get more clients.
Do you think a no obligation strategic meeting like this could at least help you understand social media better and
get more clients?

Great, what time are you available in the next two days to go over this?

What Type Of Service Do You Offer?

Explain briefly what you offer in 60-seconds or less tying everything back to the benefits. i.e. We do Facebook Ads
and email marketing to generate hundreds of leads each week for our clients – but we need to do a free
audit/analysis/etc to better analyze your situation/business to determine how to achieve [INSERT THEIR GOALS]
