A. Motivation

“KARAOKE GAMING”!
The class will be divided into 4 groups. Then, the teacher will show a wheel
containing different song titles. The teacher will spin the wheel for each group then,
each group should identify the WH question in the lyrics by singing it out within 10

The teacher will now link the activating task of the students from the day’s
discussion. The teacher will list some of the questions used in the activity. Then, the
teacher will solicit students’ responses and observations about their knowledge on the
presented questions. Then, the teacher will lead the class in recalling their knowledge
on wh-questions.

WH-QUESTIONS

WH-QUESTIONS are used to seek specific information so they are also referred
to as INFORMATION QUESTIONS. Except for how, these words begin with wh- : what,
who, which, when, where, why, and how.

Wh-questions elicit specific kinds of information.

 What? The answer is non-human.


 Who? The answer will be human.
 Which? The answer is one of a limited group.
 When? The answer will be a time or an occasion.
 Where? The answer will be a place or situation.
 Why? The answer will be reason.
 How? The answer will show manner, means, or degree.
 How many? The answer will be connected with a countable noun.
 How often? The answer will indicate frequency.

Forming Wh-Questions

If who, what, or which is the subject of the sentence, it is followed by the normal
word order of a statement.
Examples:
Statement: Grammar study is exciting.
Question: What is exciting?

Statement: Those big dogs chased the cat.


Question: Which dogs chased the cat?

Statement: Their teacher gave a test.


Question: Who gave a test?
Forming Wh-Questions

Whom/who, what and which as objects form questions by putting the wh-words
first, and do, does, or did next.
Examples:
Statement: He planted fruit trees.
Question: What did he plant?

Statement: Mother bathes my baby sister.


Question: Who(Whom) does my mother bathe?

Statement: The children catch yellow butterflies.


Question: Which butterflies do the children catch?

The class will be divided into two (2) groups. The teacher will ask the class to
prepare a 2-minute skit with their family. They will choose a representative from each
group then, there will be a draw lots of which scene they will make. They should use a
minimum of 5-10 WH-questions in their dialogues.

on ½ sheet of paper.
