FABRICATION OF AUTOMATIC BRAKE IN HILL STATION

ABSTRACT
The proposed mechanism is to reverse break using ratchet gear. By reverse locking
the differential the differential is disengaged from the axle. Thus the power is
directly transmitted to the axle and hence to the wheels. This will considerably
reduce the power loss in some occasions when unwanted loss is happening due to
the transmission if power from the shaft to the ratchet gear and then to the axle and
hence to the wheels. So in mechanism the unwanted power loss in the due course
of transmission through the gear wheel is reduced.
INTRODUCTION
• The technology of pneumatic has gained tremendous importance in the field
of workplace rationalization and automation from old-fashioned timber
works and coal mines to modern machine shops and space robots.
• It is therefore important that technicians and engineers should have a good
knowledge of pneumatic system, air operated valves and accessories.
• The air is compressed in an air compressor and from the compressor plant
the flow medium is transmitted to the pneumatic cylinder through a well laid
pipe line system.
• To maintain optimum efficiency of pneumatic system, it is of vital
importance that pressure drop between generation and consumption of
compressed air is kept very low.
WHAT IS BRAKE?
• A brake is a mechanical device which inhibits motion.
• A common misconception about brakes is that brakes squeeze against a
drum or disc, and the pressure of the squeezing action slows the vehicle
down. This is in fact a part of the reason for slowing down a vehicle.
• • actually brakes use friction of brake shoes and drums to convert kinetic
energy developed by the vehicle into heat energy.
• • when we apply brakes, the pads or shoes that press against the brake drums
or rotor convert kinetic energy into thermal energy via friction.

CONSTRUCTION
Our proposed model “REVERSE BRAKE APPLIED IN HILL STATIONS” need
so many raw materials which are mentioned in above chapter. For that materials
first of all we purchased the raw materials based upon requirement and for that
we’ve planned to how to buy. After bought we cut raw materials in required
dimensions in precise manner by using hand wheel cutting machine. After that
we’ve gone for some rough turning and finishing by using lathe and grinding
machines. After that for assembly purpose we went for welding for permanent joint
wherever we require and joined with rivets wherever we require rigidly fixed
joints. After that we had given connections to the solenoid valve, pneumatic
cylinder, and brake button with air compressor. Now our model construction
totally completed.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
• When if you need the reverse brake, applied to the reverse brake button, if
the solenoid valve is activated, the compressed air passes to the Single
Acting Pneumatic Cylinder.
• The compressed air activates the pneumatic cylinder and moves the piston
rod. If the piston moves forward, then the breaking arrangement activated.
• The breaking arrangement is used to break the wheel gradually or suddenly
due to the piston movement.
• The breaking speed is varied by adjusting the valve is called “FLOW
CONTROL VALVE”.
ADVANTAGES
• Brake cost will be less.
• Free from wear adjustment.
• Less power consumption
• Less skill technicians is sufficient to operate.
• It gives simplified very operation.
• Installation is simplified very much.
• To avoid other burnable interactions viz.… (Diaphragm) is not used.
APPLICATIONS
• For automobile application
• Industrial application
