FINGERPRINTING – SCAN TO

DIGITAL

Commissionaires can now scan your ink and roll fingerprints and create an electronic file
which we can submit to the RCMP for processing. This reduces the processing time for a
no record found search from 120 days to as little as 72 business hours with results being
mailed to The Commissionaires, who in turn courier the result to you safely with a tracking
system.

This service benefits clients needing an RCMP certified background check that live in an area
which does not have digital fingerprinting services as well as clients currently living
overseas.

Step #1. Identification

TWO pieces of valid, English identification must be Notarized as “Original True Copy” and
submitted with the fingerprints. At least ONE piece of identification must bear a photograph,
name and date of birth, and be of Federal or Provincial issue. Note that expired documents
are not acceptable.

If any of your ID’s is not in English, you must have your ID translated and the Notarized as
an Original true copy of your Identification.

Examples of identification which can be used are below

 Passport
 Citizenship Card or Document
 Immigration Document (i.e., Landing Papers)
 Birth Certificate
 Driver’s License
 Permanent Resident card or Record of Landing for Citizenship
Applicants
 Government ID

Step #2. Fingerprints

Get the INK fingerprints put onto an RCMP approved fingerprint form C216C by an approved
fingerprinting agency. You may also use an Original fingerprint form from the country in which
you are currently in, as long as it’s in English and the fingerprinting format is the same as the
RCMP C216C form. The paper size that must be used is legal size which is 8.5 x 14 or A4
sized paper. Please show the example C216C fingerprint form to the fingerprinting agency, and
ask that they follow the simple suggestions for placing the fingerprints on the form. This will
greatly improve the chance of a successful scan to digital.

Ensure that the official taking your fingerprints prints his/her name on the form and also
signs in the space indicated ‐ “Signature of Official taking fingerprints” –

NOTE: we cannot process the transaction if there is no signature.

Step #3: Third party waiver
The RCMP sends results via regular mail Canada Post. Because you are not currently in the
country, by signing this 3rd party consent, you are allowing the RCMP to send the result
directly to the Commissionaires who will safely receive it in Canada, and then we will courier
the result to you using Purolator who will provide a tracking number and designated mailing
time.
