– ATA (American Trucking Assoc.)
– CDL (Cat Data Link)
ƒ Does not service the CAN J1939 data link
– CAN requires the Comm Adapter II

ƒ Note: The Comm Adapter I does work with all


versions of Cat ET. This tool is still supported by
Caterpillar

ƒ The current Communication Adapter available
requires:
– PC driver
– Flash File (internal software)
– Power from the Service Tool Connector
– Cables

ƒ Services the following data links:


– CAN (Controller Area Network)
– CDL (Cat Data Link)
– ATA (American Trucking Assoc.)
ƒ Flash programming is faster using
CAN J1939 data link

Preparation

– Install the PC driver


» Automatically installed during STW/ET update/installation
– Install the flash file (if necessary)
» Uploaded to PC during software installation
– Set the Cat ET preferences
– Enable the PC comm port (if necessary)
– Connect the cables
