1.Introduction
This Risk Assessment RAMS (RAMS) has been prepared by Premier Fireproofing Limited, in accordance with
the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act. 2005, Construction Regulations 2013 where
applicable, General Application Regulations 2007 and relevant Codes of Practice and Industry Standards.
This Health and Safety RAMS is a working and dynamic document and may be altered and updated as necessary
during the projected timescale of the project.
It is the intention of Premier Fireproofing Limited to manage the project in such a way as to ensure, as far is
reasonably practicably, the safety and welfare of all those exposed to hazards as identified in this document.
To assist with this policy all sub-contractors and suppliers are required to comply with the requirements of this
RAMS and to bring to the attention of Premier Fireproofing Limited any information or assessment of risk which
their activity may introduce to the project.
It is the Responsibility of all persons working on or visiting the work area(s), to familiarise themselves with the
contents of this rams and to observe all safety rules pertaining to this project. This RAMS is pertaining
to the shot blasting of existing steel, re-priming and intumescent painting of steel throughout the building as
well as installation of passive fire protection on the Arbor city hotel project for the client
MARC. The sequence of works requires the unloading and set up of shot blasting machine.
The and blasting and priming of structural steel beams cutting and application of lightweight fire-
resistant ablative firebatt, the use of in-tumescent mastic and the installation of fire collars and
wraps on pvc and c-pvc pipes. The project also requires the in-tumescent painting of
structural steel section as per direction of the architects specifications
The methodology of works requires the operatives to work from ground level with shot blaster and brushes
and rollers. We will also work from podium ladders raised to install fire rated board in the encasement of
opening in firewalls. We will also cut the fire batt at ground level and install from either a podium ladder or a
hop – up, as within the height regulations of the site rules. All works will be recorded on the BORIS
application when complete. The intumescent application to steel will also be required to achieve a 60 minute
fire rating as suggested by the DFTs given by the paint manufacturer. Work areas will have been cleared
completely of rubbish and debris before progressing and upon completion of works. All steels to treated with
in-tumescent coatings and primer as per manufacturers loading table and tested accordingly by Premier
Fireproofing Ltd.
Due to the latest developments with the Covid-19 virus all Premier Fireproofing work teams will adhere to the
strict rules provided by the HSE and the government regulations in the work place. Our team will will have
undertaken the CIF certification before returning to site and be limited to smaller crews sizes working
individually where ever possible. We will follow social distancing regulations and All principal contractor new
rules and regulations with regards to operative interaction, communication and procedure will be taken into
consideration and applied as directed by MARC. Premier Fireproofing has compiled new site procedure for
works in light of Covid-19 these have been given on a separate document to accompany these RAMS.A
further detailed risk assessment of the hazards associated with the pandemic can be found in the risk
assessment section below.
2. General Description of the Project:
Premier Fireproofing Ltd have been contracted to undertake the fireproofing aspect of the project. This
will entail the shot blasting, priming and painting of structural steel beams steel beams and the
installation of a fire stopping materials to achieve a 60 minute fire rating. We will also undertake the
passive fire protection of interior fire walls,service openings and structural service openings. We will also
treat the structural steel columns with in-tumescent paint as directed by the client and in strict
accordance with the manufacturers specifications. Full compliance with site rules will be adhered to. All
new regulations with regard to the Covid-19 outbreak will be followed in accordance with the CIF
regulations and Premier Fireproofing Ltd's new safety on site work procedure.

project as directed by the client. All new HSE and Government rules and regulations for conduct in the
work place will be followed strictly.

10. Access
All personnel access is via the appropriate staff entrances, as outline in during the client site induction
process. Normal staff access required; deliveries in accordance with the principal contractor regulations on
the project. 4 point PPE to be worn always as per MARC site requirements.
Access to restricted areas will be controlled by the client. Correct routes of access followed in the case of
emergency; access routes always kept clear.
In the case of emergency, the site safety representative will be notified immediately, and the relevant site
safety procedures will be followed as per the site rules. All operatives shall be aware of emergency access
routes and these should be kept clear at all time. Our site supervisor should have all site health and safety
staff details and they should be alerted immediately in this scenario. Site supervisor to be aware of nearest
hospital, as informed in site induction.
All access and egress routes are to follow the new workplace health and safety rules in place for the
Covid-19 Pandemic. The same will apply to common areas and toilets. Social distancing and hygiene
stipulations should be followed at all times. This will also apply to the delivery of materials which must be
co ordinated 24 hours in advance with site management.
All operatives to wash hands before entering and leaving site and before and after breaks. PFP operatives
to vacate work areas where 2 metre social distancing rules cannot be applied. If they are to return to this
location they must liase with other trades before doing so in order to adhere to social distancing rules.
Breaks to be staggered and taken separately. All travel to site to be undertaken individually with "Car
Pooling" to be avoided.
The schedule of works requires the installation of passive fire protection materials to service penetrations
and openings, in fire compartment walls and floors. The sequence of works requires the operatives to cut
lightweight fire batt with hand tools at ground level. The materials will be installed from the ground, a
podium ladder or a hop up, as within the height and safety regulations of the project. Once installed the
fire batt will be sealed with in-tumescent mastic and recorded on our Boris application. We will also be
carrying out shot blasting and the application of in-tumescent paint and primer to steel sections throughout
project .All work areas to be cleared and sealed tightly to avoid over spray and residue escaping the area
of work. Upon completion all rubbish and debris to be cleared before proceeding. All Covid- 19 HSE
regulations to be followed as directed by MARC site management. Due to the nature of works a large
compressor will be used for the shot blasting aspect of the project. The compressor shall be located as
directed by MARC in an allocated area. No fuel will be stored on site.
There is a need for Social Distancing signage (Operatives to keep 2m apart at all times)
There is a need for PPE signage (to ensure operatives are wearing correct gear)
Permits to work must be applied for before work begins according MARC regulations.
General works permit required. No Hot Works permit required. RAMS permits required. All podium to be
SCAF tagged and inspected weekly. LOLER,PUWER and TBT to be prepared where required. Any new

- Operatives to have read updated RAMS in relation to site and HSE rules with regards to Covid-19
• Prior to any works commencing, the operatives involved will have read & discussed the Method
Statement & Risk Assessment and updated Covid-19 Site Procedures. The signing off and
communication of the RAMS must be carried outwhilst maintaining social distancing and
adhering to the HSE guidelines. The RAMS briefing can takeplace in the open on either a floor
area or an external area.
• The proposed sequence of work will be communicated to all parties prior to works commencing
via the RA and by filling out of SPA, which will be signed off by all operatives –following social
distancing guidelines.
• The area of works will be sectioned off as appropriate using barriers & signs as necessary to
prevent other trades/contractors from straying into the area.
• Materials to be delivered to site on flat bed truck with edge protection. Driver to remain in truck
at all times if possible to maintain social distancing of at least 2m. If the driver has to leave the
vehicle and in the case of manual handling tasks where social distancing requirements cannot
be followed due to operatives being in less than 2m proximity with each other the following
must be adhered to at all times:
All Premier Fireproofing operatives will be required to wear appropriate PPE while on site as
determined by the SPA, client regulations and our Covid-19 Safety Procedures. The Nominated
Person in Charge (Paul Mc Gahan & Vasile Claihnet) will enforce the wearing of this equipment.
The PPE will include:
• Steel toe cap boots with ankle support (non- slip)
• Hearing protection where necessary. Must always be available.
• Hi-Vis vests
• Gloves
• Hard hats
• Surgical masks compulsory
• Visors when working in close proximity with others
• Sanitising station for all tools
• Shot blasting suits
• Ventilated masks
In accordance with our C-19 Safety Procedure additional PPE to include:
• If no physical contact between colleagues full face shield and
gloves and a surgical mask.
All work areas must be assessed in relation to access restrictions and if required be zoned off
to prevent any risk of impact with podium ladders or operatives while work is in progress.
Special consideration must be given in areas where other trades are present. Shot blasting
areas to be made fully dust tight.
All work crews should be limited to a team of 1 and social distancing and hygiene measure
adhered to with regards to Covid 19 site regulations. Work areas to be agreed upon with site
management to ensure minimal contact and the ability to maintain the 2 metre social
distancing regulations.
The compressor shall be stored in an allocated zone by MARC. Access to this area will be
restricted to only Premier Fire staff.
COSHH:
All materials to be used are chemical free and environmentally friendly. Shot blasting grit will
be cleaned by Premier fireproofing.
Compressor will have tank filled as required. NO FUEL WILL BE STORED ON SITE BY
PREMIER FIRE. Required fuel drip tray will be used at all times when the compressor is
operational.
18. Project Area Preparation
Overview: Ensure that adequate access is available around steels and all
approached to it. Any items blocking access will be removed by the
site management.
Overview: Safe Plan of Action: All tasks must be risk assessed by the
Premier Fireproofing will take delivery instruction from the Contractor management. All
deliveries to be through logistics manager. Delivery unloading area requires permit to
enter,MARC to provide this. No deliveries will be permitted unless scheduled in
advance. Rules with respect to new Cov-19 regulations to be by delivery driver and
operatives receiving delivery.
The main contractor will provide clear access to all work areas. Premier Fireproofing
operatives to assess work area for potential hazards before commencing works. Shot
blasting areas to be completely sealed and cleared of all other trades. Our staff to
maintain Covid -19 work place rules including social distancing. All operatives to wash
hands to wash hands with sanitizer before entering and leaving site and before and
after breaks.
