IV. Module Description:

The entrance of the 21st Century marks the beginning of the new revolution in our society.
The revolution known to others as the 4th Industrial Revolution introduces innovations in
the field of science, technology and communication, emergence of a knowledge-based
economy, and inventions of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This great leap in our society benefited us more, and made our life easier and convenient.
It created new norms and traditions that will mold us, our community, and the society. It
builds strong invisible bridges that connects individuals and nations instantly. All these
things are possible because of the pursuit of human kinds for learning, power, and
knowledge. That quest is also called research. Research involves investigative work in
which individual/s seek information about something by searching or examining the
phenomenon or object. It is to discover truths by studying the chosen topic scientifically;
meaning, by going through a systematic way of doing things.

After doing all the activities and at the end of this module, each student should be able

Direction: Look, barrow, and read the book, Practical Research written by Esther L.
Baraceros pages 8 to 18 or you can surf the net to answer the following questions/
perform the task given. (Use separate sheet/s for your answer/s)

1. What are the different characteristics of research? Describe each characteristic.


2. What are the two types of research based on application of research method?
Define each.
3. What are the types of research based on purpose of the research? Explain each.
4. What the two kinds of research based on the types of data needed?
5. What are the recent approaches to research?
6. What are the different types of variables?
7. Make a diagram showing the stages of the research processes.
8. From your answer in task no.7, make a short description of it, in one paragraph
only.
9. Surf the net and read the article written by David B. Resnik, J.D., Ph.D. published
last December 1, 2015 entitled, “What is Ethics in Research & Why is it Important?”.
10. Give at least 5 ethics of research that he mentioned. Enumerate and describe.
11. Write the expression for the following. Use a separate sheet for your solution and
answer.

ACTIVITY 2

Direction: Show in the box below are the importance and purposes of research in
our daily life. Read it and in a whole bond paper make a poster showing the
importance and purposes of research in our daily life.
