Computers can also store data for later uses in appropriate storage devices, and
retrieve whenever it is necessary.
USES OF COMPUTER
It becomes difficult in today’s digital world to do a lot of work
without a computer or simply that a lot of work is impossible without
a computer because there are
many uses of computers in daily
life of different fields. From
Engineers to Doctors, Students,
Teachers, and Government
Organization they all use
computers to perform specific
tasks, for entertainment or just to
finish office work
Computers have made our life easier. With greater precision and
accuracy and less time taking computers can do a lot in short time
while that task can take a lot of time while doing manually.
Computers have taken industries and businesses to a whole new level.

1. Uses of
Computers
The computer helps
in in providing a lot of facilities in the education system.
Computers have its dominant use in the education field which can significantly
enhance Education
performance in learning. Even distance learning is made productive
and effective through internet and video-based classes. Researchers have
massive usage of these computers in their work from the starting to till the end
of their scholarly work.

Computer Aided Learning (CAL)

Computer aided learning is the process of

using information technology to help
teaching and enhance the learning process.
The use of computer can reduce the time
that is spent on preparing teaching material.
It can also reduce the administrative load of
teaching and research. The use of
multimedia projector and PowerPoint
presentations has improved the quality of
teaching. It has also helped the learning process.

Distance Learning
 Distance learning is a new learning methodology. Computer plays the key role
in this kind of learning. Many institutes are providing distance learning
programs. The student does not need to come to the institute.
The institute provides the reading material and the
student attends virtual classroom. In virtual classroom, the teacher delivers
lecture at his own workplace. The student can attend the lecture at home by
connecting to a network. The student can also ask questions to the teacher.

Online Examination
The trend of online examination is becoming popular. Different examination
like GRE, GMAT and SAT are conducted online all over the world. The
questions are marked by computer. It minimizes the chance of mistakes. It also
enables to announce the result in time.

Computers are used in hospitals to maintain a
in Medical database of patients’ history, diagnosis, X-rays, live
Field monitoring of patients, etc. Surgeons nowadays use
robotic surgical devices to perform delicate
operations, and conduct surgeries remotely. Virtual
reality technologies are also used for training purposes. It also helps to monitor
the fetus inside the mother’s womb.
Patients Monitoring
Monitoring systems are installed in medical wards and Intensive care units to
monitoring patients’ continuously. These systems can monitor pulse, blood
pressure and body temperature and can alert medical staff about any serious
situations.

Diagnosis Purpose
A variety of softwares are used to investigate
symptoms and prescribed medication
accordingly. Sophisticated systems are used for
tests like CT scan, ECG, and other medical tests.

Specialized devices are used to help impaired patients like hearing aids.

Hospital management systems can store data about patients. Computers are
used to store data about patients, their diseases & symptoms, the medicines
that are prescribed.

business is transaction processing, which involves transactions with suppliers,
employees or customers. Computers can make these transactions easy and
accurate. Many business tasks are performed more quickly and efficiently.
Computers also help them to reduce the overall cost of their business. Due
to computer machines in industries have become automated, it is now much
easier to produce vast quantities of products in less time. Business services have
also become faster and more comfortable with computer technology. People can
analyze investments, sales, expenses, markets and other aspects of business
using computers.

Computer can be used in business in the following ways.

Stock Exchange is the most important place for businessmen. Many stock
exchanges use computers to conduct bids. The stockbrokers perform all trading
activities electronically. They connect with the computer where brokers match
the buyers with sellers. It reduces cost as no paper or special building is
required to conduct these activities.

An organization can use computers for marketing their products. Marketing

applications provide information about the products to customers. Computer is
also used to manage distribution system, advertising and selling activities. It can
also be used in deciding pricing strategies. Companies can know more about
their customers and their needs and requirements etc.

informative websites are available to download books, tutorials etc. to improve
their knowledge and learn new things.

Computer Games
An important use of computers at home is
playing games. Different types of games are
available. These games are a source of
entertainment and recreation. Many games are
available that are specially developed to
improve your mental capability and thinking
power.
Entertainment
Today, computers are being used a lot for entertainment purposes due to
computers’ functions have been progressively improving. We get many
entertaining features on computers so that we don’t need a television for
entertainment.
The functions of computers have been
progressively improving, even
expanding into the field of
entertainment. After covering the
necessary programs, the integration of
games was made in the early 80s. A
couple of years later, the same
commercialization began a situation
that has extended to this day.
Entertainments like listening to
music, watching series and movies,
playing video games, etc. are also
increased by the computer nowadays.
And one can enjoy this daily using
computer.

Working from Home

People can manage the office work at home. The owner of a company can
check the work of the employees from home. He can control his office while
sitting at home.

computer
in Like businesses, state and federal government
offices use computers. Government employees

nt reports. Computers help these workers expedite
these tasks, as most government-issued computers
contain numerous software programs like word processing, spreadsheets and
database management programs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

functions, payment distribution, record keeping and even coordinating
mailings.

Computers can be used in record keeping of the employees. The government
often hires computer programmers or database managers to maintain records
of employees and citizens,

Most of these records are kept in large databases, which can

store records of people’s gender, age, address, phone number and other
important information

Computers can be used to track employment
information for those working in local
government. The functions that can be
computerized and automated include everything
from salary history and year to date earnings to
education level and employee assessment
information.

Local government agencies can also use their

computer systems to build a database of job applicants and resumes, making
it easier and faster to fill any vacancies that arise due to resignations,
retirements and terminations.

account to another, pay friends and much more. Financial institutions have
also given consumers control over their own security by adding features like
the ability to freeze a missing credit card to
avoid further charges. Over time, these
controls will only increase as technologies
like biometrics and facial recognition keep
accounts safe.

you open a new checking or savings
account, but the process is easier than ever.
You can even open a new account online. On the banking side of things,
this eliminates the need to have someone on-site at each branch, manually
processing and approving applications.

Once an account is open, the bank manages everything

electronically. Still, many banks maintain local branches with full-time
account representatives to help nearby customers who want that personal
touch.

7. Role of computer in Defense.

There are important uses of computers in the defense sector since the beginning.
today, its meaning has completely changed; Computers are largely used in
defense. Modern tanks, missiles, weapons, etc. Military also employs
computerized control systems but strength of defense has increased a lot. Large
missiles, nuclear weapons, satellites, UAVs, air-crafts, missiles can be
controlled with just one command through a computer.

military services as follow

Missile controlling: 
The target of missiles are all set by
computers. They are used to track the
missiles, set targets, time in which the
missiles will hit the target etc.

GPS tracking: 
The military people use computers to track other numbers and their voice
recordings. This may be helpful to know if the other company has set a bomb
trap etc.
Controlling of defense vehicles: 

The defense people use computers in tanks and some of the IAF planes to set
targets with accuracy and many more
