Do we need Art?
No one will be surprised to hear that any child who expresses an interest in pursuing a career
in arts is advised to pursue other talents instead. We view arts as something of a hobby, something
that’s fun but certainly can’t pay the rent. So, the real question is do we really need art in our lives?
Majority of our society has this opinion that buying pieces of art is a waste of public money.
However, if you think of it art does make this world a more attractive place. Wherever you go, you
will find a piece of art in one way or the other. Either it is the architecture of a building or some
graffiti down the street. The fact that art is everywhere and people tend to enjoy it, is just amazing. It
is true that some people believe some art is not art, rather it is considered ridiculous as if there was
no talent involved. Artist think of it as a different way of expressing talent. The thought process of an
artist who is trying to create something “different” is astonishing. There are several factors that have
to be considered and it can take a lot of time especially if it will be commercially available.
Additionally, yes there is no criteria of how to define some “works of art” as beautiful or not.
There is no proper way of judging it. But that is no the main purpose of it. The main purpose primarily
is to make you look at things in a new and different aspect. Another strange yet popular opinion is
that study art is not a productive course to study and there is no benefit art can bring to the society.
But if you think of it, art does reflect the time and place of the modern era. Just like how the ancient
art describes their generation.
To conclude my statement, we sometimes need art in our life. Like all other professions, art
has its own ups and downs but it did help us to reach where we are today.
