Torque Monitoring
Torque, moment or moment of force, is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about
an axis (Wikipedia)
Torque = F x r
If the load on a machine increases, and we want to maintain a certain operating speed,
the motor must deliver more power, and that is done by increasing the torque
Almost every machine problem will result in a change of the torque reading e.g. bearing
problems, wear, coupling defects, torsional vibration etc.
The right telemetry components are needed in order to transfer the torque readings from
the shaft to a monitoring system
