Computer Graphics
An isometry is any transformation that preserves
the distance between points. However, not every
transformation is an isometry; some transformations
distort the distance between points.
In computer graphics it is necessary to distort images
to give the illusion of depth or movement. For instance,
if something looks larger, it seems closer to you. If an
object looks smaller, it seems farther away from you.
To give this illusion, a scaling is done to an image.
This either increases or decreases the size of an object by the scale factor.

Symmetry in Quadrilaterals
Different types of quadrilaterals have different numbers
of lines of symmetry. Did you know that the only quadrilateral
with exactly four lines of symmetry is a square? You can define
quadrilaterals by the number of lines of symmetry they contain.

Extended Response
Record your answers for Question 15 on the back of this paper.
• If a student gives only a correct numerical answer to a problem but does not show
how he or she arrived at the answer, the student will be awarded only 1 credit.
All extended-response questions require the student to show work.
• A fully correct answer for a multiple-part question requires correct responses for
all parts of the question. For example, if a question has three parts, the correct
response to one or two parts of the question that required work to be shown is not
considered a fully correct response.
• Students who use trial and error to solve a problem must show their method.
Merely showing that the answer checks or is correct is not considered a complete
response for full credit.

• Select F2 Triangle to draw a triangle.
S: (x, y) → (-x + 2a, y) • Move the cursor to where you want the first vertex. Press ENTER .
T: (x, y) → (-x + 2b, y) • Repeat this procedure to determine the next two vertices of the triangle.

to describe the composite transformation “S followed by T.” Step 2 Draw a segment to define the direction and magnitude of the translation.
• Select F2 Segment.
