BIAG NI LAM ANG
Script
Narrator: A married couple named Namongan and Don Juan lived in a faraway barrio of Nalbuan (that is
now part of La Union in the northern part of the Philippines). Don Juan left his pregnant wife and went to the
mountain to punish a group of Igorot.
DON JUAN: Dear, I will go now and punish those Igorots for what they did, I will come back as soon as
possible
NAMONGAN: Okay my love, take care! I will be here with our son waiting for you!
Narrator: While he was away, Namongan gave birth to a baby boy. The baby boy was different because he
could speak the moment he was out of his mother’s womb compared to the other babies who can’t. He asked
his name to be Lam-ang and chose his godfather when he was baptized.
But Nine months have passed and he still hasn’t seen his father.
LAM-ANG: Mother, where is my father? *It’s been a long time and he’s still away. *
NAMONGAN: He is in the mountain Lam-ang, to settle his feud with a group of Igorot there.
NAMONGAN: (Lonely emotion) I don't know;(pause) I don’t even know if he is still alive.
LAM-ANG: (Stand up talking to self) Then I shall find him! (Look to mother) Mother, let me find my
Father.
NAMONGAN: (look to lam-ang with a worry face) (sigh) I don’t want you to leave but I shall let you
seek for your Father. Go on then, Find him.
Narrator: Immediately, Lam-ang left his mother to go to the mountain to find his father. While he was on
his way, he felt tired and decided to sleep.
*DREAM*
IGOROT 1: KILL HIM HAHA
IGOROTS: 'EVIL LAUGH'
DON JUAN: Please No! Have mercy on me Please!
IGOROT 1: We don't know mercy when it comes to you! Don Juan HAHAHAHA
DON JAUN: AHHHHHHHH
LAM-ANG: NOOO!! (Breathing very hard) What was that dream about? (Curious low voice) My father…
(Angry?) Father!

"Igorots laughing(not so loud, enough for the narrator to be heard) while the narrator is talking"
Narrator: Furiously. Lam-ang went to the Igorot’s village where he saw his father’s head being stuck on
the bamboo pole. (tawanan ganon) Without any hesitation, Lam-ang fought and killed all the Igorots
leaving one alive ordering him to tell the others about what he did.
LAM-ANG: Go! Go and Tell your tribe that I, Lam-ang, killed your squad!!
Narrator: After his victory Lam-ang went back to Nalbuan and on his way he passed by the Amburayan
River. There he took a bath with his lady friends scrubbing his body of dirt and blood that eventually killed
all the living creatures in the river. When he was old enough to marry, he heard the beautiful Ines
Kannoyan and fell in love with her. After that day…
LAM-ANG: Mother, I would like to court Ines Kannoyan. She is a maiden in Calanutian but she’s very
beautiful and industrious.
NAMONGAN: But Lam-ang, are you sure about your love for Ines? I’m sure Ines will not love a man like
you.
LAM-ANG: Mother! That is so sad but please don’t betray me, I’ll make sure I will not fail! I will bring
Rooster and Gray Dog with me.
NAMONGAN: hmmm Alright then my son. God may guide you especially on your way there.
Narrator: After the go sign, Lam-ang immediately went to Ines’ place. When he arrived at her house, he
was annoyed to see Ines' many suitors in front of the house and there he met his enemy Sumarang. But
again, to his bravery he fought and defeated him.
Narrator: As the white rooster crows, a nearby house crumbled to the ground.
ROOSTER: My master, Lam-ang, loves you very much and he wants to marry you
INES KANNOYAN: Marry me? Alright then, I’ll marry you if your wealth could equal our riches.
Narrator: Lam-ang went home at once and came back with a big boat full of gold, the value of which
surpassed Ines' family's wealth. Then they were married and they lived happily.
Narrator: Years have passed and finally it’s Lam-ang's turn to catch a fish. It was a tradition for a newly
married man to catch a fish known as ‘rarang’,
INES KANNOYAN: Good luck and be careful for tonight Lam-ang, I will be here waiting for you.
LAM-ANG: Thank you Ines but, I’m a bit worried I could get killed by a Becacan once I set out to catch
the rarang.
Narrator: Lam-ang was worried but he had to do his duty and one night, he sailed out to the sea.
Swimming across the deep-sea he found caught a raring.
ROOSTER: Call a diver Ines! I know how to save Lam-ang, find his bones and bring them to us!
INES KANNOYAn My Husband Lam-ang is dead, please find him, find his bones no matter what!
Don’t worry about anything but finding him, I will pay you enough!
MARCOS: Yes, Ines, I will do my best to find your husband. I shall not return until I find a single bone of
him.
Narrator: As the diver dived to the deep-sea, he found all the bones and quickly gave it to Ines hoping
for his life to return. She put them together and covered it with a piece of cloth. Lam-ang’s White Rooster
and Gray Dog crowed and barked together with Ines Kannoyan’s prayer, slowly the bones started to move
and Lam-ang is back again alive. Lam-ang and his wife Ines with the White Rooster and Gray Dog lived
happily ever after.
