Infty Layout Viewer Help

InftyLayoutViewer is a tool that analyzes document layout and allows correcting area segmentation. It generates .lif files that contain layout information which can then be used by InftyReader for OCR. The tool allows selecting areas using mouse or keys, changing area types, and adjusting recognition order. Math areas can also be viewed and edited separately before recognition results are obtained in .iml format through InftyEditor.

InftyLayoutViewer Help
----------------------

1. To use LayoutViewer:

- Suppose that you selected "sample.tif" as input file.


- Please set check on "Layout Information(LIF)" in the
"Output File Format" selection frame, and run the
recognition pressing the button "Start OCR".
- Then, a file "sample.lif" will be generated in the same
folder as the original image file "sample.tif", and
InftyLayoutViewer will pop up showing the layout analysis
result by InftyReader.

- If you have already *.lif files, you can run "InftyLayoutViewer"


selecting the menu "Tool" - "LayoutViewer" of InftyReader.

- After checking and correcting the area segmentation (see below),


the "lif" is updated by pressing the "save" button in the tool
bat or pressing "save" under the FILE menu.

- To use the edited "lif" file in the recognition, please set check
to the "Use Layout Inftormation FILE(LIF)" or to the "Use Math Area
Information in LIF" on the main dailog of InftyReader and run the
recognition pressing the "Start OCR" button.
Please note that the LIF file name should be the same as output
file name except for the extension, and put it in the same folder
as the image files to be recognized.

2. To Correct the area segmentation:

Selection of area = Mouse drag pressing right button.

Press "t" key to change the selected area to Text Area.


Press "i" key to change the selected area to Image Area.
Press "a" key to change the selected area to Table Area.
Press "d" key to remove the aera.

You can select an area by "double clicking" on it, and then


by "right click", you can chage the attributes of the area.

3. To change the ORDER of the areas to resognize, please select


some area by double clicking and then press a number key
or up/down key.If you press SHIFT+0, SHIFT+1, SHIFT+2, ...,
then the order will be set as 10, 11, 12, ..., and if you
press CTRL+0, CTRL+1, CTRL+2, ..., then the will be set as
20, 21, 22, ...

4. (Math/Text area segmentation)


To view the Math/Text area segmentation results, press the
"Show Math" button. On this MathAeraView Window, selecting
an area by mouse drag, press the "m" key to change the area
to math area, and "d" key to remove all the math areas in
the selected area.

5. (Math area recognition)


After selecting an area by mouse drag or double clicking on
an math area, please press the "r" key then you will get the
recognitoin results of math area(s) included in the selected
area. The recognition results are saved in the ".iml" file
format, and InftyEditor will pop up immediately showing the
recognition results. From the window of InftyEditor, you can
convert the results into LaTeX, MathML, Word, etc.
