Overview:
A technology that enables applications to run without the need to install them locally and
without altering the host Operating System.
Because applications bring their own set of configurations and run within a protective Virtual
run-time "BOX OR CONTAINER OR LAYER", there is no dependency or effect on the
configuration of the machine running them.
Projects Undertaken:
Project # 1: Linux Device Driver for Wireless Communication Card. Feb-04 – Aug-04
Overview Every device needs a driver to communicate with the Operating System. It is
the driver that tells to the Operating System about the name of the device,
specification of the device, what the device capable of doing and other
properties of the device like power consumption and its peculiarities. Any
application software, which the user is directly using, communicates with the
device through this driver. Device driver when loaded becomes an integral part
of the Operating System and so utmost care should be taken while writing the
device driver to avoid any instability to the Operating System. This project
concentrates on a Linux device driver for a wireless communication card
(IrDA), which plugs in to the USB port of a computer. This helps to
communicate between two or more systems in wireless mode.
