14. The cost of manufacturing x microcomputers of a certain kind each week is given by
C  2000  50 x , and the revenue from selling these is given by R  75x. How many
microcomputers must be produced and sold in order to realize a profit?

15. A hardware kiosk in a shopping mall sells a dozen washers for $2.95. Beyond the
fixed costs of $150 per hour, it costs $1.45 for enough material and labour to produce a
dozen washers. If the hourly profit varies between $50 and $200, between what levels (in
dozens) do the hourly sales vary?

16. One day, the lowest temperature in Buenos Aires was 50℉, and the highest was
77℉.
(a) In which country is Buenos Aires to be found?
(b) What is the corresponding temperature variation in degrees Celsius? (If F denotes
9
degree Fahrenheit and C denotes degrees Celsius, then 𝐹 = 5 𝐶 + 32. )

17. Using a mobile phone costs $3000 per month, and an additional $1.89 per minute.
(a) What is the cost for one month if the phone is used for a total of t minutes?
(b) What are the smallest and largest numbers of hours you can use the phone in a month
if the phone bill is to be between $3,200 and $4,700?
