SOFTWARE: MyMathLab – required www.pearsonmylabandmastering.com

ATTENDANCE: A student will be considered active in the class by completing the homework assignments
with a competency of 80% or more for each section in  MyMathLab, by completing his/her quizzes for each
section in MyMathLab, and by completing the unit tests in person in the TLCC’s or other testing facility.  A
student is considered non-active and may be withdrawn from the course for  Failing to complete 3 quiz
assignments in a row and/or Failing to complete any 2 Unit Tests..

LESSONS: The lessons are found in MyMathLab. They comprise of videos, activities, and practice for the
section objectives. You must earn a 100% on the lesson to access the homework.

HOMEWORK: Homework will help you learn new material, review old topics, increase your mathematical
proficiency and check your understanding of mathematical concepts. Therefore, it is VERY important to do
all homework as it is assigned. Homework will be assigned and will be graded via MyMathLab. You need to
work the problems until you can do them without any assistance.

QUIZZES: You must earn an 80% on the homework to access the quiz. The quizzes are found in
MyMathLab. The quizzes will help check your comprehension of the section objectives.

TLCC: Free tutoring is available through the TLCC. For information, please click on

UNIT TESTS: Please refer to the “Tentative Schedule” handout for test dates. Note that these dates are
tentative. Any change will be announced in class. It is the student’s responsibility to note such changes. All
unit test will be in MyMathLab. HonorLock will be used for proctoring. There will be some problems that
will have to be submitted for grading. The submitted problems must be emailed to [email protected] within 15
minutes of the completion of your test.
GRADE: Each of your 4 highest unit test grades will count for 15% of the final grade. The homework grade,
which is comprised of the lessons and homework, will count for 7.5% of the final grade. The quiz grade will
count for 7.5% of the final grade. The final exam will count for 25% of the final grade.

WORK MISSED: Make-ups will not be allowed for tests. Any test that is missed for any reason will be
given a grade of zero and will automatically become your drop grade.

WITHDRAWAL: The last day to drop this class (with a refund) is Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020. The last day to
withdraw from this class (without a refund) is Friday, Oct. 30, 2020. The professor has the right to withdraw a
student from class, but it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to withdraw.

FINAL EXAM: The Final Examination is both comprehensive and departmental. The final exam will be in
MyMathLab. HonorLock will be used for proctoring. The final exam will be on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020

CALCULATOR: You may use a scientific calculator for the course. You may not use any calculator such as
the Casio fx series which solves equations.

POCESSION OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES DURING TESTING: You may not have a cell phone,
electronic watch (i.e. Apple watch), or any other electronic device during testing. If you are caught with an
electronic device, you will receive a grade of 0. The grade of 0 will count as one of your 4 highest unit test
grades.

CHEATING: If you are caught cheating on a test, you will be given a grade of 0. The grade of 0 will count
as one of your 4 highest unit test grades.

ONLINE RESOURCES: Be very careful if choose to use online resources such as Mathway, Wolfram
alpha, Photomath,etc. These tools will not be available during testing.
