I. Problem

The main problem revolves around how will FedEx make use of emotional
intelligence to improve the overall performance of managers? This arose as per
FedEx’s survey, employees highly regard characteristics such as fairness, respecting,
listening, and trust which is all connected to emotional intelligence

Sub-problem:

1. How will emotional intelligence improve the leadership capabilities of managers?

This is relevant because managers need to be objective (hence, focused) when it
comes to handling people.

2. At what level of emotional control is necessary so that managers will not easily
succumb to stresses outside of work that may affect work performance? This is
necessary because managers still are individuals who can be affected by other aspects
of life that can, in turn, affect their overall performance at work.

II. SWOT Analysis

Strength

1. Strong stability in the market

FedEx is one of the world's most respected and admired companies and one of the
most successful businesses. With this, it is an advantage over its competitors. They
serve almost gross product throughout other countries. Moreover, they maintain their
rank in the world's most admired companies for the ninth consecutive years. The
company is excellent in human networking and focuses on confidentiality for safety.

Weakness

1. Conflicts in the language barrier

FedEx a global shipping company focused on developing its managers in the

acquisition of leadership skills. The majority of leaders showed large improvements in
their ability to controlling emotions. Although their performance in leading an
organization improved. FedEx should also consider the importance of different
languages globally. The company might be affected by the cultural diversity crossing
borders of other countries to transport goods and perform their services. Lack of
knowledge and interaction can affect not only their transactions but also in the
workplace that may affect the speed and logistics of the company.

Opportunities

1. Establishing wider partnerships

FedEx has excellent technological capabilities and an efficient distribution network

that can be set as an opportunity to build a partnership with other outstanding
companies as well. Furthermore, the brand has emerged as a high standard supply
chain partner offering great solutions for supply chain issues that may arise. FedEx
can strike more partnerships with other brands that can help them improve its range of
services and capabilities.

Threats

1. Competitive Market and Management of Employees

FedEx has lots of competitors on the market. With the stiff competition between
different logistics companies, their sustainability might be a challenge. Moreover, the
government implements a law that protects workers against abusive companies. With
hundreds of employees of FedEx, maintaining their workers might be complicated. A
simple mistake with their workers might cause a problem for the entire company.

III. Alternative Courses of Actions (ACA’s)

ACA No. 1: Conducting a 5-day Coaching Seminar about Self-Regulation and Good
Social Interaction

Coaching Seminar is one of the effective ways to enhance a person's emotional

intelligence. The seminar will address the topics about self-regulation, social skills
among co-workers, their importance and benefits. There will also be an interactive
activity to improve these areas and perform well in their workplace. Some examples
include open forum, peer behavior evaluation, and trigger recognition.
Advantages:

1. Improves employee's well-being and understand one's feelings.

2. Enhances social interaction within co-workers and builds teamwork which

increases team performance.

3. Able to manage personal and occupational stress.

Disadvantages:

1. Temporary halt of business production for five days.

2. Coaching Seminars within the company may be costly.

3. Actual participation is uncertain.

ACA No. 2: Creating Improvised Activities to Develop Emotional Intelligence

The company will create spontaneous activities that employees will perform. These
activities will help the employees to develop their self-awareness and understanding
their feelings. In that way, they can control their behaviors, improve their decision-
making skills, and enhance their performance in the company. One of the activities to
be conducted is a recollection. All employees will go on a trip in a peaceful place and
manage their mental health.

Advantages

1. This strategy will help the employees to have peace of mind and reflect on their
actions and behavior towards other people.

2. It also improves the decision-making of employees and increases their potential in

their workplace.

Disadvantages

1. During the activity, workers might get too emotional.

2. Some activities might cost the company a fortune, especially in recollection.

IV. Recommendation

FedEx company focuses on additional expansion into international markets, and

further differentiating itself from UPS, GT Express, LBC, and other shipping
companies. With its vast expansion at an alarming rate, the superiority of the FedEx
brand is evidently blatant in the eye of consumers. They want to become the best
delivery company in the world by delivering the parcel faster that the customer need
and you do not need to go to the place where the item you want because of FEDEX
company will you get the item easily without wasting time and energy to go to that
place. Even in other countries, the FEDEX company delivers the parcel that the
customer needs at a faster pace.
