Time Frame 4.5 hours
Introduction Sa among mga istudyante, maayong adlaw! This part of the
module technically is not part of Organic Chemistry, but a
requirement to have an organized class and productive learning
experience for us. This part will facilitate your orientation on the
school policies, course contents and timeline, course
requirements and grading system, and on the modular teaching
and learning mode. After going through these things, students and
teachers involved this course should have calibrated expectations
4
from one another. However, each must exercise some level of
flexibility to meet the challenges of modular learning given the
limitation in resources. Within the time frame of this course, you
have 4.5 hours to digest the information from this lesson and to
provide your responses/feedback and reflection.
Activity In your house or in the barangay where you belong, there are
rules/agreements/guidelines that are expressly written or just
passed on verbally and understood as is. Enumerate at least five
(5) of these rules/agreements/guidelines that you know. Write in
only one complete sentence per item.
1. Curfew hours from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm
2. Minors with the age of 18 years old below could not go inside
the internet shop
3. Burning of plastics and other wastes are not allowed, trashes
must be collected every week and every house must have trash
bins with biodegradable and non-biodegradable.
4. In the house, before you go inside, you must wash your hands,
sanitize it with alcohol ang step on the footbath.
5. Everyone must have their own QR codes.
Where any of these rules/agreements/guidelines suggested by
you?
The rule in the house that anyone should sanitize first is the one
that I suggested to my family.
Analysis From your list in the Activity Section, describe the status of
compliance (poor, good, excellent) and its effect. If the status of
compliance is poor, what would you recommend to improve the

situation?
Example:
Rule – Wearing of facemask
Status of compliance – Poor (not followed by many)
Result – High COVID19 cases
Recommendation – Provide free face mask; increase penalty
1. Rule: Curfew hours from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm
Status of compliance: Poor
Result: Many were roaming around in the streets though its already late at
Cont. night.
Recommendation: Anyone who are caught roaming around at night must
Analysis stay on the barangay hall for 24 hours as a punishment.
2. Rule: Minors with the age of 18 years old below could not go inside the
internet shop
Status of compliance: Poor
Result: Many children were addicted with online games. Some of them
just stayed in the internet shop the whole day just to play with thise online
games.
5 Recommendation: The barangay tanod must report minors into the
barangay and call their parents for a briefing
3. Rule: Burning of plastics and other wastes are not allowed, trashes must
be collected every week and every house must have trash bins with
biodegradable and non-biodegradable.
Status of compliance: Poor
Result: The surroundings and the environment of the barangay seems to
have lots of trashes. Canals were dumped with platics which results to
flooding.
Recommendation: The barangay functionaries must set penalties for thise
who will not follow the guidelines.
4. Rule: . In the house, before you go inside, you must wash your hands,
sanitize it with alcohol ang step on the footbath.
Status of compliance: Excellent
Result: This became a habit. It keeps us away from sickness.
Recommendation: None since they were doing good.
5. Rule: Everyone must have their own QR codes.
Status of compliance: Excellent
Result: Citizens can enter supermarkets easily around the city.
Recommendation: None since they were doing good.
Abstraction The discussion on College policies, and course contents and requirements
will use the student handbook and course syllabus as references,
respectively. We will only pay attention to the provisions or aspects in the
handbook and syllabus which concern us most.
School policies in the handbook
1. Everyone affiliated to the College are called to embody the following

DEPARTMENT OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY
CORE VALUES:
Excellence
Integrity
Innovation
Stewardship
Love of God and Country
It is with the hope that these core values will create kind, responsible,
and productive citizens.
2. Attendance
The attendance will be based on the submission of output. Each
lesson has an assessment task. Submission of the assessment task merits a
present attendance, otherwise, a student will be regarded as absent. A
grace period will be granted on deadlines as deemed necessary. If the
consecutive failure to produce outputs equal that of the absences that
warrant dropping, a notice will be sent to the student to act on the
requirements. If outputs are still not received despite efforts to reach out,
the student will be dropped from the course.
3. Honesty
The assessment tasks are designed in a manner that answers can be
generated based from the information in this module, life’s experiences,
and from empirical observations. However, if there are instances where
information from other sources, especially in the internet, can serve as
input or answers, the student must practice due diligence in paraphrasing
and citing its resources. Establishing communication with fellow
6 classmates on matters of this course is encouraged to stimulate exchange
ideas. However, students must not use this as platform to directly copy
answers/outputs from one another. Students with ‘very similar’
answers/outputs will be dealt accordingly.
Course requirements and grading system
1. Time frame
This is a 5-unit course with laboratory which will run for 18 weeks or 1
semester. It has an allotted 3 hours lecture class and 6 hours laboratory
class per week or a total of 9 hours per week.
2. Mode of teaching
The students and teachers will embark on a blended type of learning
but with focused on the modular mode. In the modular mode, students
will be furnished with copies of the course modules which are basically
printed lessons. In this mode, students are afforded greater responsibility
in their own learning since class hours are not structured. As a self-
regulated learning, students by themselves must assign study hours per
course or subject. Make use of the module and follow the flow of the
lessons for better comprehension and retention of the concepts. To
reinforce the modular mode of teaching and learning, other means will be
adopted such as online forums/discussion, video presentations, use of the
College’s Learning Management System (LMS).
3. Grading criteria and course requirement
Shown below is the proposed grading criteria and course
requirements for this course. Students can suggest changes to these
criteria.

the answer sheet and submit the same to the pick-up points designated by
DNSC. If able, faster submission can be done by sending clear photos of
the filled-out answer sheet to the teachers email address or through
LMS .
Since laboratory activities cannot be conducted in a physical set-up, many
laboratory exercises are in the form of problem sets. In some laboratory
exercises, actual analysis procedures are provided such that students will
be familiar with the procedure in theory. Hypothetical results are given for
students to analyze and as basis for accomplishing a laboratory report. If
the situation warrants, laboratory exercises might be done in actual.
4. Grading system :
1. Passing Score : 50% of the highest possible score.
7
raw score
2. Transmutation : ×50+50
highest possible score
3. Board work / Discussion rubric:
5 - Perfect answer, no error
4 - 1 or 2 errors in mechanics or notations
3 - correct answer on second or third attempt, with guidance from
professor
2 - correct equation or formula but wrong final answer
1 - totally wrong answer
0 - absent /refused to participate
Application As you read through the lesson, you might have encountered
conditions or requirements that you do not favor. Or you might feel
something is lacking. With this, kindly express your sentiments on this
matter on the space provided below.
Unfavorable conditions:
I am in favor with all the conditions and requirements discussed.
Suggestions for inclusion or modification:
Instructors must consider those working students. They may pass their
works late because of their limited time to do it due to their duty
schedule. Many of the students right now tend to have part time jobs due
to financial crisis brought by this pandemic.
Assessment Evaluation Questions: Answer in 1 to 2 sentences only.

How do you think the following entities can help you in your education during this pandemic?
DNSC:
The DNSC provides us with the very convenient modes of learning. They provide us with very
accesible and user-friendly sites that we can use over online classes.Through this, learners like
me could pursue and continue the basics in learning despite this pandemic have brought us.
Local Government Unit (Province/Municipality/Barangay)
The LGU helps me in my education in the means of availing their scholarship. With that cash
assistance, I have bought things which I can use through my online class.
Your Teacher:
Our teacher helps us to be ready on the new modes of learning and at the same time motivates
us to be still in this time of pandemic. They are doing their very best to provide us the best
learning they could give even though we just meet once in a week in a virtual meeting.
Non-government Organizations/Private Companies:
To the network operators, they really help students in such way that they have new internet
offers that are very affordable to have which we can avail to have our online class and research
anything on the internet.
Family/Relative:
My family helps me in such way that they provide me the things I needed on my online class.
They also support and guide me through every modular activities I have. They always remind
me thatI must do my activities and pass it ahead of time.
Yourself:
I help myself by motivating myself to just enjoy this new mode of learning caused by this
pandemic. I'm just making myself believe that this new normal can be turned knto a better

normal if you would just be positive all through the way. Learn as if you were in the classroom
and don't be bothered by distractions around you. I help myself to learn without the face to
face discussions of my instructors by talking ro myself and explaining each lessons as if I am the
instructor. There's so much way to learn it's just up to you how you can do it.
