TUTORIAL 2 – TRANSFORMS

In the figure shown below, coordinate system N is stationary, while coordinate system A rotates so
that its origin is at point O and axis a1 rotates to always point at point P. Using these two coordinate
systems, find the following:

a) Find the linear velocity and acceleration of point P in terms of coordinate system N.

b) Find the linear velocity and acceleration of point P in terms of coordinate system A.

c) Write the transformation matrix between the N and A coordinate systems.

d) Show that your answers found in part a and part b are equivalent using the transformation
matrix.
