Key Concepts
What is Sound Narrative?
A sound narrative is a term for narrative approaches that studies forms and
functions of sound in their relation to narrative structure. It analyses how sound
contributes to the creation of real and imagined spaces and worlds both in audio
genres but also in everyday storytelling.
How sound helps tell your visual stories?
1. Sound encourages the listener to use their imagination to picture what is
going on in the story.
2. Listening to sound is a more focused experience and encourages people to
listen to the stories that they are being told before forming an impression.

What are legends
A legend is a semi-true story, which has been passed on from person-to-
person and has important meaning or symbolism for the culture in which it originates.
A legend usually includes an element of truth, or is based on historic facts, but with
'mythical qualities'. Legends usually involve heroic characters or fantastic places and
often encompass the spiritual beliefs of the culture in which they originate.
A folktale is a popular story that was passed on in spoken form, from one
generation to the next. Usually, the author is unknown and there are often many
versions of the tale. Folktales comprise fables, fairy tales, old legends and even
'urban legends'. Again, some tales may have been based on a partial truth that has
been lost or hidden over time. It is difficult to categorize folktales precisely because
they fit into many categories.
