III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

1.PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
A. PRAYER “Let us bow our head and feel the presence
“May I call Lopez to lead to our prayer” of God. Our heavenly father…Amen”

B. GREETINGS “Good morning Ma’am Yulas, good morning

“Good morning class” classmate”

“Before you take your seats, kindly pick up

the peace of trash and put it into the (the students will obey)
trashcan and aligned your chairs properly.”
"and i will check also your ears, nails if its
long and your uniform also"
Say present!
C. CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE
Calling their name individually.

D. REVIEW “Our topic last time was all terrestrial plant”

“So class? What was our topic last time?
“Ma’am terrestrial plant are plants that
“That’s right! So what is terrestrial plant? grow on land”
Yes Charles?”
Excellent!

Okay, Let’s move on now to our next topic.

E. UNBLOKING
“Before we proceed, let me check if you are
familiar with this picture. Raise your hand if
you want to answer. Are we clear?” Yes Ma’am!
(teacher will post a picture)

“Ma’am those are plants”

What did you see in the picture?

Okay very good Kyla!

2. MOTIVATION:
So before we go on to our lesson, lets us
listen first to a song.
(the parts of the plant) “Ma’am it’s all about the parts of the
plants”
What is all about the song?
Okay very good!

flowers
Stem
What are the parts of the plants that were Root
mention in song? Leaves
Fruits

3. PRESENTATION OF LESSON

“So our lesson for today is all about the

structures and functions of terrestrial plant I
have here a picture”

Plants, flowers, and trees

What do you see in the picture? It’s beautiful

What can you say about the pictures? The plants/ flowers

What makes the pictures beautiful?

Leaves, flowers and stem
What parts of the plant can you see in the
picture?

4. DISCUSSION

Terrestrial plants are plants that grow on

land. Some of these plants evolved from
aquatic environment and developed some
structures or parts to survive the terrestrial
environment.
The parts of terrestrial plants can be divided
into the root system and the shoot system.
The root system consists of roots that obtain
nutrients from the soil and store food. On
the other hand, the shoot system is made
up of stems and leaves that carry substances
up and down the plant.
The Root System

The roots are the structures found beneath

the soil. They are responsible for anchoring
the plants to a substrate, absorbing water,
dissolving minerals, and storing food. They
have root caps which are responsible for the
cell division, elongation, and maturation
while root hairs are mostly for absorption.
There are three types of roots: taproot,
fibrous roots, and adventitious roots.

Taproot is the largest type of root and is

present in most of dicotyledon plants.
Fibrous roots consist of very fine branches
and are present in monocotyledon plants
and grasses.

Adventitious roots grow on stems above the

ground. They include prop roots which are
present in corn
The Shoot System

The shoots, also known as aerial plant

structures are found above the soil. They are
divided into vegetative parts (stems and
leaves) and reproductive parts (fruits and
flowers).

Vegetative parts

The leaves are parts of plants where food is

made through photosynthesis.

The Stem is responsible for support and

erection of leaves so they can be positioned
properly to capture light energy. They are
also responsible for the transport of
essential substances between the roots and
other parts of the shoots.

What plant is this? Anyone? Gabi plant Ma’am

Onion
How about this one?

Ginger
This one what is the name of this?

Some modified stems like tubers, corms,

bulbs, and rhizomes serve as storage of
carbohydrates.
Reproductive Parts

The flowers serve as the reproductive

organs of flowering plants by sexual
reproduction. They are plant structures
where pollination takes place. The male
reproductive part of a flower is called
stamen while the female reproductive part
is called pistil.

When the ovary within the pistil matures, it

becomes a fruit which contains one or more
seeds that can be dispersed by different
pollinating agents.

Example
All kinds of trees are considered as
terrestrial plants. They are also made up of
root and shoot systems. They are important
to animals because they provide habitat,
food, and oxygen.

5. ACTIVITY
INSTRUCTION:
Identify what are the name of those parts
put a level in a box.
leaves

flowers

stem

fruits

root

6. APPLICATION
“I will divide you into 5 groups. I’m giving
you 10 minutes to discuss with your groups
before I group you let me remind you
something, cooperate with your group!”

(dividing the class into five groups)

GROUP 1
Draw an example of taproot plants
GROUP 2
Draw an example of fibrous roots plants
GROUP 3
Draw an example of adventitious roots
plants
GROUP 4
Draw the parts of vegetative plants
GROUP 5
Draw the parts of reproductive plants

7. GENERALIZATION Roots, stem, flowers, leaves, and fruits

 What are the parts of the plants?

roots?
It makes the food for the plant.
● For the leaves?
It helps the plant to make seeds.
● How about the flower?
It holds the seed of the plant.
●What is the function of the fruits
