OBE SYLLABUS IN FLUID MECHANICS FOR ME

A. VISION : CNSC as a premier higher education institution in the Bicol Region.

B. MISSION : The Camarines Norte State College shall provide higher and advanced
studies in the fields of education, arts and sciences, economics, health,
engineering, management, finance, accounting, business and public
administration, agriculture, natural resources development and management
and ladderized courses. It shall also respond to research, extension and
production services adherent to progressive leadership towards sustainable
development.

C. QUALITY POLICY AND : We, at Camarines Norte State College, aiming to become a Premier Higher
ENVIRONMENTAL Education Institution in the Bicol Region, are committed with utmost care of
POLICY the environment in providing excellent services in instruction, research,
production and extension that are responsive to the satisfaction of our
students and other stakeholders.

To achieve these, we shall implement an internationally recognized


integrated management system in our operations, processes and services
and shall:

• comply with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, the


mandates of the College and relevant needs and expectations of our

prevent pollution by optimizing the use of electricity, paper, water and
other resources and adopt the safe and responsible methods of
reduction, reuse, recycling and proper disposal of wastes;
• provide our employees support to grow and achieve their full potential
in their respective fields, thereby sustaining a competent, motivate,
engaging and environmentally conscious workforce;
• develop and extend innovative technologies to our stakeholders
contributing to the country’s sustainable development; and
• establish objectives aimed at improving the efficiency of our operations,
processes and services for our College growth and development;

F. COURSE TITLE : Fluid Mechanics for ME

G. COURSE DESCRIPTION : The course covers deals with the nature and physical properties of fluids as
well as the identification and measurement of fluid properties. It
emphasizes the application of conversion laws on mass, energy and
momentum to fluid systems either incompressible or compressible flow,
inviscid or viscous flow as well as head loss calculation on pipes and
fittings.

H. CREDIT UNITS : 3 units of lecture

I. PREREQUISITE : ME 106 -Thermodynamics, Mech 2 - Dynamics of Rigid Bodies

N. PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING : For Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program must
OUTCOMES produce graduates who shall be able to;
a) apply knowledge of mathematics and sciences to solve
mechanical engineering problems;
b) design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and
interpret data;
c) design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs
within realistic constraints, in accordance with standards;
d) function in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams;
e) identify , formulate, and solve mechanical engineering
problems;
f) understand professional and ethical responsibility;
g) communicate effectively;
h) understand the impact of mechanical engineering solutions in a

j) know the contemporary issues;
k) Use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary
for mechanical engineering practice.

Q. COURSE POLICIES :
A. Flexible Learning Strategies

Modifications in the curriculum and instruction shall reflect flexible learning strategies that complement the outcomes-based education
approach. Use of web-based educational materials and other available resources and opportunities for interaction, then combining them
with traditional means of learning and assessment shall be observed. For monitoring purpose, the CNSC LMS shall be the primary course
management system, but without prejudice on the use of faculty of other learning platforms and applications like Google Classroom,
Schoology, etc., as well as other flexible class modalities like distance (online + offline remote) and blended (online + limited-in-person)
modes that are available and convenient for the faculty and students (NCSC Administrative No. 61, s. 2020)

Attendance shall be based on the number of submissions of the students per course, on it may be waived particularly for those cases
wherein asynchronous learning is implemented. In such case, the 5% weight for attendance may be distributed to the component/s where
outputs are required to evaluate student’s learning competencies. This shall be reflected in the course syllabus and discusses with the
students (CNSC Administrative No. 61, s. 2020)

D. Passing the subject

1. In order for any student, he/she must obtain a grade of 3.00 or 75% or higher. The failing grade is 5.00. Grades from 74%
and below shall not earn any credit.
