ASSIGNMENT 4

1. Find the probability of selecting 3 Mathematics books and 5 Statistics books from 10
Statistics books and 7 Mathematics books. The books are selected at random.
2. A pack contains 4 blue, 2 red and 3 black pens.
i. If a pen is drawn at random from the pack replaced and the process repeated 2
more times, what is the probability of drawing 2 blue pens and 1 black pen?
ii. If a pen is drawn at random from the pack and NOT replaced and the process
repeated 2 more times, what is the probability of drawing 2 blue pens and 1
black pen?
3. In a class, 40% of the students study math and science. 60% of the students study
math. What is the probability of a student studying science given he/she is already
studying math?

4. How many bundles of 5 different books can be made from 8 Maths books and 6
Physics books, if the number of Maths books must always be greater than the number
of Physics books?
