Construct Control Attribute Charts P and NP Chart On Minitab
Introduction:
In statistical quality control, the p-chart is a type of control chart used to monitor the proportion
of nonconforming units in a sample, where the sample proportion nonconforming is defined as
the ratio of the number of nonconforming units to the sample size. The p-chart only
accommodates "pass"/"fail"-type inspection as determined by one or more go-no go gauges or
tests, effectively applying the specifications to the data before they are plotted on the chart.
In statistical quality control, the np-chart is a type of control chart used to monitor the number
of nonconforming units in a sample. It is an adaptation of the p-chart and used in situations
where personnel find it easier to interpret process performance in terms of concrete numbers of
units rather than the somewhat more abstract proportion.
Objectives:
The objective of this lab is to construct p and np chart for a given data using Minitab.
Procedure:
First of all Open Minitab and type all the data in the column
.
Figure 1
Figure 2 Figure 3
Select the column of subgroups and the column for variables as in figure 3 than press OK
the p chart will show as in figure 4.
Figure 3
Now for NP chart the method is same only select np chart instead of p chart.
Figure 4 Figure 5
By pressing np option and clicking ok the NP chart will appear as shown in figure 6.
Figure 6
For variable sub group size open Minitab and type all the data and subgroups in the
column as in figure 7.
Figure 7
Use same process as for p chart of constant size of subgroups than the p chart of is type
of data will show in figure 8.
Figure 8
CONCLUSION:
From this lab concluded that the p and np chart is easily constructed on minitab, and its solution
is easily to analyse.
