1. What is scientism?
It is a thought or expression regarded as characteristics of scientist. It is
the excessive belief in the power of scientific knowledge and techniques.

2. How is science comparable to magic?

First, science just like magic has the ability to function as religion or even
to reject religion such as atheism. For example, there are people who treat
Charles Darwin as their god that gives them the reason to live.

Next is science as credulity. A second way which science and magic are
similar according to Lewis is their encouragement of lack of skepticism. You
easily believe of what the scientist tells you without you own speculations and
rationalization.

And last is science as power. Science just like magic it is the quest of
power. Magician wants a power to control the world or even universe. It can all
put us in danger if it is in the hands of evil people.

We can’t deny that modern science brings a good thing that they called as
science utopia. But science also can put us in danger. In the book of Lewis
entitled “That Hideous Strength” on which tells the story of the conspiracy to
transform England into a scientific dictatorship. The conspiracy is led by the
government beaurocracy. It includes the sterilization of unfit, selective breeding,
bio-chemical conditioning and the experimentation of animals and criminals that
will give you a dark imagery.

5. What do we need for the sciences to be good?

Science must interact with each other in order to be good by means of the
larger tools of good rational and critical thinking and so that the scientist are
subjective to review by everyone who is able to think well and to think rationally.
