While several companies are actively working on developing flying car prototypes, there are still challenges to overcome before they can become mainstream. Flying cars would need to demonstrate safe operation in varied wind conditions and adhere to air traffic separation standards. Cost of operation also needs to come down to be practical for personal transportation. However, if sustainable energy sources can power flying cars, they may one day replace traditional cars and helicopters for certain transportation needs by offering a faster door-to-door option.

    WE NEED FLYING CARS

    What is?
    The growing population is partly to blame for our
    congested roads, but the main problem is that we are
    not expanding our transportation systems fast enough
    to meet ever increasing demands. One solution is to
    create a new type of transportation that doesn't rely
    on roads, which could one day make traffic jams a
    20th century relic. To do this, we must look to the
    sky.A flying car is a type of personal air vehicle or
    roadable aircraft that provides door-to-door
    transportation by both ground and air.
    Fuction
    The function of a flying car is to
    travel like a plane but it is more
    comfortable than a plane.In the
    word are a lot of types, for
    example,Delorean,Lilium, Alius
    and another more.

    Advantages and
    disadvantages
    Everything has advantages and
    disadvantages. Flying cars have a lof
    arguments for side or against. For
    example,when there's a lot of traffic you can
    get past the traffic jams. In addition they
    produce less emissions than current
    combustion vehicles. However, they have a
    high prize but you can travel faster. Another
    advantage would be ,they are small

    How close we are?
    Flying cars have captured the imaginations of designers and drivers
    since the pioneering age of motoring. Combining a road-going
    vehicle with flight seems like the perfect solution to congested
    routes, saving time for everyone. Today, we’re closer than ever to
    making flying cars a reality, but how close is this to becoming an
    everyday sight?There are plenty of companies working on flying cars
    and Toyota has stated its intention to use its Skydrive machine at
    the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Japanese
    car making giant has already invested £275,000 in the Cartivator
    group that is developing this machine, while Volvo and Lotus parent
    company Geely has brought USA-based company Terrafugia.
    It is a good idea?
    Flying cars have a problem with trajectory control in a wind
    gust. Airplanes must separate themselves from each other by
    1000 feet altitude minimum and 5.75 miles following distance.
    This flight requirement means that only a few people can fly a
    car to work and back in a city.. They cannot mechanically come
    off the path so they can go 180 mph faster than a helicopter
    but on the other hand flying cars use sustainable energy
    sources like the sun where a helicopter uses insane amounts
    of fuel and in a fog they crash. The cost per hour of operation
    of a police helicopter is 400 per hour. An hour on the
    guidewayfor 180 miles will cost you 45 all in.
