Problem Statement

Create an illustration of a card for different occasions by using different tools/options such as pen tool,
shapes, etc.

Also design a card using that illustration, for instance, get well soon, best of luck, happy birthday,
graduation day, etc.

1. After completing the task, take a screenshot of each object.


2. Also take a screenshot of the Layer Panel for each object.
3. Insert all screenshots of above-mentioned tasks in a MS Word file and upload it on the LMS. (MS
Word file is mandatory)

Solution:-

1. Open the Adobe Illustrator and create document for card according to your requirements.
2. Select the “Rectangle Tool” from left side tool bar and draw a rectangle on your artboard for card
background.

3. Then start creating the main object, let’s take the example of “Birthday card”. You can add cake as
main object and draw it with the help of “Pen Tool”
4. First, draw the base layer of the cake and fill it with any color you want. Check the attached
screenshot for better understanding.
5. Now, select “Pen Tool” or “Shape tool” and draw a strip on the base of the cake and fill it with color
you need.

6. Create the cake toping of dripping cream with “Pen Tool” and fill it with color.

7. Select the “Ellipse tool” from left side tool bar to create the Bunties on the dripping cream for the
embellishment of the cake.
8. Select the Multiple bunties with selection tool by keep pressing the shift key and change the color
according to your choice.

9. Candles play prominent role in birthday, so you have to create candles with the help of “Pen tool” or
any other tool which suits best.
10. After drawing the candles and filling it with color. Draw some lines on the candle to create texture on
them for making them good looking.

11. Now take the copies of the candle and change their color according to your choice.
12. Now, add the text on your card with the help of “Type tool”. Select the font from top menu bar
according to your card requirement. For this birthday card the font should the happy and funny.
We are using “Chicken Pie” for this card but you can use according to your choice or design.

13. This is the final look of the card. Foe making your card cooler or good looking you can add birthday
sparkles and balloons etc. in it.
This is how you can design any card by using “Pen tool” and different “Shape tool” In Adobe Illustrator.
