Year 7 – 10 CAT and AMC Competitions 2021

This year mathematics students will be entering two competitions:

Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT)


This competition is for students with an interest in programming or who may have computer
programming potential. NO experience with programming is necessary. The competition runs for
an hour and you will be asked 6 multiple choice questions and 9 more challenging questions whose
answer is numerical. It will be held on 23-25th March.

Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC)


The AMC is one of Australia’s largest school-based mathematics competitions. It features unique
problems designed by Australia’s leading educators and academics with the goal to demonstrate
the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives. It will be held 4-6th
August.

The cost for both competitions costs $15.00 and the school must receive payment for this amount
before Tuesday 23rd February.

Please fill in your son’s detail on the reverse side, pay by one of the methods indicated, and then
ask your son to hand the sheet to the front office.
